Why do they hate President Bush?

Posted on 03/22/2004 10:45:11 AM PST by HankReardon

Seems like a simple question. The people I talk to cannot tell me why they hate him. And I think it is hate, they use words and phrases like "his daddy" and "bushies" in a very demeaning way. Also, some one asked me, why do they hate Bush, I did not know how to answer. I mean, the same people that can unconditionally love a President who tried to fix a U.S. court case against an American citizen are the often the same people who hate Bush. The same people who can for decades excuse a U.S. Senator for vehicle homicide while driving under the influence of alcohol are often the same people that hate Bush. How does President Bush merit this hatred?

Bush engenders hate from the left not because he is a Rpeublican but because he is a social conservative who is public about his faith.

They see him as a danger to their way of life and their drive to secularize and socialize America.

There is no other explanation because the Presidents' fiscal conservative bona fides are just not there.

Hank, I've thought about this a lot, and written about it here on FR a few times (don't have the links, but I'm sure you could find them).

I think the hatred breaks down into two categories: faith and success.

Bush's faith is a HUGE sticking point to unfaithful Christians, "unchurched," and modern-day atheists. My scripture fails me, but I recall the Bible saying that a righteous man exposes the unrighteousness of others merely by his EXISTENCE. (This is, at root, what I see happening with the terrorists: they hate us because of who we are---and it's more than our wealth and "material culture." Ultimately, we are on the RIGHT SIDE of God, and in their hearts, they know it.) Bush repeatedly acts with a firmness of resolve based on his faith, and this horrifies modern liberals, who can't believe ANYONE can "be that sure" of himself or his faith. There is more to it, but that's the essence.

Bush is also successful in achieving all the things that Clinton could not: prosecute an attack against the enemies of America; pass education "reform" (I disagree with it, but he did pass it); and "reform" Medicare. Bush gets NO CREDIT from liberals for passing these, mind you. Quite the contrary, he just EXPOSES THEM MORE every time he does something Clinton promised to do, and didn't.

It all boils down to this: Bush, in every way, exposes their hypocrisy, and they know it. Liberals are the modern equivalent of the Sanhedrin: "Crucify him." (And I'm not likening Bush to Christ, so chill).

I don't believe most here actually hated Bill Clinton. Some disgust, no doubt.

Yeah, thats how I feel about him. But there was alot of hate of Clinton here. I don't blame them really, but I am not arguing Clintons hateability here. What I DO notice is that the hatred for Bush is hardly being veiled anymore. I recall the Clinton supporters crying on TV and other places about the "Clinton-haters" and how awful they were.. Well where are they now, as Bush-hatred is going Nucular? They said the Clinton hatred was so bad for the nation and its character, where are those people now?

Leftists detest anything that gets in their way of their "ideal Socialist state".

That's it in a nutshell.

And nobody incurred their wrath like Newt Gingrich.

The socialists were on their way to a takover of the Govt. and Newt Gingrich derailed their train with the contract with America.

Gingrich got the full force of the socialists power attacking him, and he ended up resigning. They even had polls on his popularity to keep the pressure on him. Have you ever heard of a poll on Dennis Hastert's popularity. - tom

G.W. Bush is the Antithesis of everything the Liberals stand for.
He stands for morals and adhering to the 10 Commandments of Judeo-Christian Ethics. They abhor the 10 Commandments, and send their ACLU attack dogs wherever they are displayed.
G.W stands for personal responsibilty. They stand for irresponsibility and Government dependence.

You see, if he is right--they have to admit that they are WRONG. That will not happen.

At their core, leftists are pathological narcissists, one of the traits of which is a "boundless repressed rage" for those who thwart their whims. Since the wholesale liberal infiltration of many of society's institutions such as the schools and the media, the need to repress that rage to function in society has greatly diminished. They have been told it is alright to hate certain catagories of people and individuals.

On top of that, that W is basically a decent guy only enrages them further.

Their hatred is a deep pathology at work, welling up from the core of their being (I hesitate to say soul in this case) in a manner that is so immediate and intense that they need not be able to explain or articulate it for they so powerfully feel it to be true.

I like to give "The News Test" to people who don't like Bush. They never know 1/10 of the news they should to make such decisions. They also don't see 9/11 as the level of attack that it was - War on America. In short, they are not serious students of news, or history, and simplistically think we should be able to get along with everyone, no matter what.

They are usually ignorant people and unfit voters.

Bush means what he says and says what he means. He's honest, makes no excuses, and tends to seek answers to problems or situations in the least politically correct tortured group-think possible. His solutions to problems do not give everyone in the room 20% satisfaction, for the purpose of everyone getting to leave the room with something, anything. When you do that you get the Balkans, Haiti, and lot's of OBL's in the pipeline.

I often wonder what may have been different if Bush was president at the time of TWA 800? The chain results might have been different.

TWA 800 = 9-11 in my opinion.

My feeling has always been that they hate him because he represents what middle America wants - honesty, family, God and Country - the far left represents hatred of America, a "feel good" agenda, and no responsibility for actions.....

One can only hope that the vehement hatred being displayed by the 'Rats is symptomatic of their party's dying gasps. I don't see what these death throes accomplish for them other than to whip up a fervor amongst themselves. They certainly aren't going to win any conservatives over, and will repel most moderates. All in all, I'd rather see them foam at the mouth like they're doing rather than putting their heads together to plot a sound takeover of the country.

A lot of folks I know say in a very forthright manner "I hate the man". No bones about it, and when it usually gets down to it, their hate has something to do with ignorance, arrogance, or a combination of the two. But they can't usually tell me what he's ignorant or arrogant about it.

What I have found weird though, especially in conversations I had just this weekend, is that some of them hate him (for the reasosn described above) and consider themselves solid Democrats, yet seem to have a lot of what would be considered generally Republican ideas (mostly taxes...particularly estate taxes).

Liberals don't hate Bush nearly as much as some Freepers who are Libertarians and Buchanan supporters.

Why not ping them to explain why they hate Bush more than Clinton, Kerry or Osoma Bin Laden?

I've always believed that liberals hate conservatives because they remind them of one or more of the following:
1) their parents
2) the kids in school whom they were jelous of (for whatever reason)
3) the preacher/priest who made them feel like they were sinners, going to hell, made them feel guilty about their bodies/urges.
4) hateful teachers they had

I absolutely love reading their reactions to current events at the DU. Every single one of them is a fascinatingly knee-jerk reaction born completely from emotion and entirely lacking in common sense. I used to be equally dumb in college. Its weird: as soon as the kid gets out from under the overpowering ego of the adults, or the oppresive dominance of hostile peers, they explode in the exact opposite direction in every way they can think of. If dad ate meat they protest it. If dad preached abstinance, they attended an orgy (sounds fun, but I digress..), if they were republican then the kids became democrats.

Put me down as another who believes the Hate is at least 80% based on Bush's Christian faith. The Left hates that. That explains the hatred of Ashcroft as well.

I don't believe most here actually hated Bill Clinton.

There were plenty of us here who actually hated the Clintons, and for good reasons. Too many reasons to go in to here, but I will mention selling our nuclear secrets for campaign cash.

Yeah, we hate him.

Two words - mortal fear.

Fear of the potential number of appointments to the Supreme Court of the United States of America is a curse to the dim-0-crats. Why? Because this can have the effect of reversing activist judges in their tracks - for generations to come.

[Of course, recognize that with Booby Hatch as chairmen of the Senate Judiciary Committee ... no guts no glory ... so all bets are off.]

ignorance, arrogance, or a combination of the two

They call him "stupid" without any real evidence, and they define "arrogance" as someone who is sure of themselves - "no one has a right to be that sure of themselves." You must understand, they have no core values, and anyone that does just confuses them. The third thing that I've heard is Bush's "privilege" of getting into good schools, etc because of his family. I always respond that I plan to work hard to give my kids every advantage possible. The jealous leftists would rather have it handed to them or just sit back and complain.
