LM here.

It's been a while since we had a thread along these lines.

I can tell from comments I am seeing in threads, on abuse reports, and in Freepmail that some people are unhappy with various policies and their implementations by the staff here.

I've seen allegations that certain factions are picked on. I've seen allegations that the moderators have killed activism. I've heard rumors that we killed Kenny, and even that we killed the radio star. I see certain personality conflicts acting up, and know that one (or both) sides in it feel that we aren't doing what we should.

So let's open this can of worms.

This thread is for making your grievances heard. If you think something stinks or is wrong, make your case here. Back it up with facts. Let the audience at large weigh in on your evidence.

I'll read the thread. Jim will too in all likelihood. So will the other moderators. Depending upon how well you make your point, and depending on if you can convince Jim, me, the other moderators, and/or the world, maybe you can change things. And if you don't, then it might make you feel better to have vented, so it won't make this thread a total loss.

I'm not going to reply to this thread for quite a while. Rather, I am going to sit back and watch to try and get a feel for the general tenor. I encourage those who are both happy and unhappy with things to particpate in this thread.

From the beginning, you sent me 3 freepmails trying to get me to ask Jim to pull the thread. I very very politely and apologetically declined each time because I thought the Masons should have the opportunity to answer the attacks on them.

Then, as your posts on the thread became increasingly personal and ... rude... Their frequency and tone overwhelming the debate, I was afraid the thread would get pulled. (Thankfully, at that time, only your tit-for-tat got pulled)

I knew first hand that the masons were trying to maintain a civil debate and represent their position honorably.

So, I asked you in the most self-effacing, polite way I possibly could to "moderate your tone", telling you I hoped you would take my request in the humble and friendly spirit intended. (I will show that to anyone who wants to know how you've misrepresented my request.)

You replied to me with an extremely nasty personal attack, - Outrage, caps, exclamation points, etc...

I let both it and the public attack go without response.

"I assume she didn't like my reply and is now against me. It takes all kinds............. "

All I ever asked is for you to tone down your vitriol ("moderate your tone"). I was not overreacting. I never reported you, yet you had many posts pulled on that thread, were told to knock it off, and last night caused it to be pulled entirely.

Thus your nastiness was rewarded - you got your wish that the thread be pulled by being ... and the rest of us, who had done our best to be civil to keep the thread, lost. So yes, we resent it.

I did NOT want to get into this. But you now have your offenses hidden and everyone is defending you while you totally misrepresent me and the others.

I'm done, and I apologise for the dirty laundry, but the record had to be set straight.
