Unfortunately, Rove is far less likely to deliver what you hope for, than the Witch Doctor.

Boy, did this conversation get turned around in a hurry.

Since when did the conversation become about my expectations about Karl Rove?

I'm not the one who uses him to frighten moderates into conservative.

Seen the news today, archy?

Yep. I saw this, too. Be warned:

"I will come back. I will come back. I will come back," vowed Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.), who said that she will try to revive the ban later this year or in 2005.

The Liability bill will pass with all amendments intact.

The conference committee leaves them in, Bush signs.

Then activists judges will declare the liability part unconstitutional, leaving all gun control parts intact.

That's been considered and has been planned for. And if it does, the judges will not like what happens next one little bit. Read your constitution.

The SKS I no longer have had a pistol grip, folding stock and muzzle brake. Never managed to re-install the folding bayonet.
Fortunately it was pre-ban.
Did have two 30 round mags for it, but who wants 'em? Like the 10 round with stripper clips better.

It was as much fun as an the M1 carbine I bought my Dad!

I have a mossberg loaded all the time, but find it painful to shoot alot when practicing, particularly the combat shells you want to use for defense - both double ought and slugs. Painful!

I sympathize with you, particularly since my favored daytime buckshot load in my 870s is the 20-pellet #1 2 3/4-inch magnum loading. But for use at nighttime when less muzzle flash is advisable, or in my older Winchester M97s, or if a pistol grip or folding stock is used, I slip in the Federal 9-pellet tactical 00 buck reduced power load or the Remington 8-pellet equivalent, with excellent results. There are also reduced power *tactical* slug loads, popular with police departments whose female and minority officers otherwise cannot qualify with their shotguns due to recoil sensitivity. Some possibilities available *here*.

Like the 10 round with stripper clips better.

No kidding. If I really want a 7.62x39 with detachable mags I'll get an AK. The stripper clips are lighter and faster. BTW, the Chinese manfactered the "Red Star" fixed magazine that holds 20 rounds and is easily loaded with two strips. I'm not sure how much they cost these days or whether or nor they'll fit all SKSs.

I think I just did Henrietta, but you are too pompus and myoptic to realize it.

Keep on deluding yourself, but I would never stoop to accusing your Mother of instilling it in you. You show a remarkable tin ear...are you sure you aren't actually Hitlery Clinton herself, now?

Blaming a politician who alienates voters by his own bad policies is neither pompous or myopic.

Blaming the voters for the non-re-election of an incumbent who forwards bad policies is a bit like a crook who blames the cops when he's caught red-handed, instead of taking responsibility for having done the crime in the first place.

If Bush continues to "do the crime" by furthering policies with which voters disagree, the resulting loss of votes is hardly the voters' fault, and entirely his.

I won't even ask you to explain why this is "delusional," as it appears you are one of those trolls who appear on FR to attack those with whom they disagree, but who can't manage to string two coherent sentences together.

The Senate did not eventually approve extension of the AWB. It was discussed, it was added to another bill, and the bill the extension was added to went DOWN, 90-8.

You may know that, but I promise you, many folks picking this thread up at this point will not have read the few posts that clearly recited that vitally important fact.

You know that and I know that. But those who attempted to run this down our throats and the RINOs who voted with them do NOT see this as a defeat, only a very temporary setback.

And note that THEY'RE REPORTING THIS AS A VICTORY FOR THEIR SIDE...

In all, 10 states with a combined population of 94 million — one-third of the U.S. total — awarded 1,151 delegates, more than half of the 2,162 needed to seize the nomination. In addition to New York, California, Vermont and Edwards' three target states, voters cast ballots in four Kerry strongholds: Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Kerry, a 60-year-old senator, had 701 delegates to Edwards' 205, even before Tuesday's voting.

A 10-state sweep could give Kerry about 1,500 delegates — a virtually insurmountable lead. Even with a couple of victories and a better-than-expected showing in several other states, Edwards had to win at least 70 percent of the pledged delegates between now and June — and secure the support of uncommitted party leaders — to overtake Kerry in the delegate chase.

The lawmakers took a Super Tuesday time-out in the Senate to vote on extending the ban on military-style assault weapons. The extension passed, and they returned to campaign work after chit-chatting on the Senate floor.

Just the ones Bush needed to win this last close squeaker election.

And who cost Bush's daddy his second term in office as well.

Yep, just what Daddy Bush thought in 1992. Before the results came in, and he was out of a job.

Those votes meant a lot in 1994, when they were instrumental in the Republicans retaking the House. See post #541.

If the President wants to p*** those votes away now, he's not thinking straight.

Ironically, his father's ill-conceived ban on the importation of "assault weapons" was one of the factors that led to *his* defeat in 1992. I hope history does not repeat itself, but it often does.

You have to do better than half right. True enough that Perot took about one vote in five of those cast in that election. And at the same time, voters usually far more sympathetic to the Republican cause than otherwise stayed home by the thousands.

I voter who doesn't show up at the polls is effectively one vote against the candidate desperate for support. A vote cast for his opponent is as good as two.
