Yes, I do recommend it very highly. Even though I wanted more flashbacks during the violent scenes, it was beautifully done. My favorite parts are the beginning scene in the Garden, a flashback of Mary and Jesus (when he was toddler), and the very ending. The tot scene and the ending scene make me cry just thinking about it. Of course, while he is being tortured you can't help but get emotional and then to have him be in so much pain and still be thinking of others--it's too much for words. The androgynous Devil throughout is very creepy--very nice effect?affect?--I can never remember which one to use.

I'm watching because I actually saw a couple of the films this past year. But I'm upset that Cold Mountain wasn't nominated for Best Picture.

Monster has a depressing, awful theme, but Charlize Theron was stunning in the role. She deserves an oscar, as does Renee Zellweger for Ruby and Jude Law as Inman in CM.

Oh, I forgot about Braveheart on USA. I don't think we get USA at my house so I would have to go over to my parent's and watch it. I need to get that movie on DVD. Great movie.

In case anyone missed it, the best award ceremony was given, the IFP Independent Spirit Awards. Much better nominees, more emphasis on the quality of the films, not on who is owed an award, and awards to honor debut performers and directors.

I find it interesting that people need to be so negative and declare what they are NOT going to do. They post on a thread of interest and state that they aren't interested?
