I think they must have sent out some of those old "party line" ballots, this one with LOTR picked for everything it was up for.
If it wins the song Oscar, I'll know the fix was in.

Well, I'm back from work. I'm happy to see that everyone is planning on attending Michael Moore's afterparty. Anyhoo, I understand from Drudge that the Man of the Hour, Mel Gibson, isn't there. He was afraid that he'd be booed.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

If I read my biographies right, Errol Morris also did "The Thin Blue Line" - wasn't that doc anti-cop?

I couldn't agree more. The movie wins EVERY AWARD Except for the Title character who was in virtually ever scene. What a freakin rip off and I wouldn't blame him if he never shows up again. HOWEVER, I believe that slight made him rethink his life. He cleaned up his act after that and became somewhat of a gentleman, marrying his long-time girlfriend and becoming a Father. So for him, it could have been a positive.

If the "Academy" is going to have any credibility left after the snooze fest tonight, "The Passion of the Christ" will get a record amount of nominations next year. I'm not sure if the film is elligible. While Mel did not lock the print until this year, he spent a good part of last year publicly screening the film (AintItCoolNews fans paid to see the movie in December even though they were unaware what films would be screened).
This is not a dig at the movie. I honestly don't think Mel cares if the Academy acknowledges his film or not. We know what the Academy has stood for these past 20 years.

None of his films are worth watching. I suffered through Gates of Heaven in film class 22 years ago. Thin Blue is overrated. Dr. Death was stupid, and obvious. That ran on IFC last year.
Good luck tomorrow w/the job offer. I miss Borders, too!:(
