Dumb Tiger Woods commercial now. Why does Rush worship that guy?
Perhaps because he's a great golfer. And he's made a bazillion dollars.

The later book he's essentially chasing the U.S.S. Essex (under a different name) off South America, actually.
Having talked with some friends who literally know more about warfare in the period than anyone on earth, I think, they couldn't come up with an example of taking the wheels off the guns.
But, in the grand scheme of historical unreality in war films, it did OK. Didn't do the egregious violence to history that something like, say, The Patriot did. (Oops, I just spoke ill of something associated The Mel, I'm doomed on FR, I guess.)
And some of the stuff that people have complained about actually WAS unrealistic. Yes, 14 year old boys were actually midshipmen ordering 40 year old sailors around :-)

Obviously you've never seen the work behind the scenes.

I'm a big "Caddyshack" geek, so I thought Eldrick Spackler was pretty funny, actually.

I don't think that Crystal was referring to the award winner's opinion being the "scary" thing. He implied that the government would take revenge on the winner's comment be using its power to audit him, and that was scary.

It's nice to see that Howard Shore has come a long way since "Saturday Night Live" when they had "Howard Shore and the All Nurse Band."

True, true. And as far as I'm concerned, the Oscars became totally irrelevant when they hosed Russell Crowe and snubbed him for A Beautiful Mind. I knew for sure then what a total scam it was. That was a horrible snub of a great work, but for me complete irrelevance when Saving Private Ryan lost out for best picture to . . . . wait for it . . . Shakespeare in Love.

Dumb Tiger Woods commercial now. Why does Rush worship that guy?Huh? That commercial kicks the crap out of anything on the Super Bowl this year, including the game.

Now my two cents...two of the most OVERRATED actors in my oh so humble opinion: NATALIE WOOD and GREGORY PECK. Both easy on the eyes, but whose acting range was A-B.

I'd wager Tiger's "day job" is paying right nicely .Which is the reason he shouldn't get any crazy ideas about being an actor. :-)

I fell asleep when Alex Baldwin didn't win and Tim Robbins did, without making an anti Bush statement....What have I missed?

From the lessons learned, we can take over an entire nation in a week. You bring up an interesting point. We may have faced many other losses/unwinable wars if not for the application of strategies and errors learned in Vietnam.
