FoxNews? "Fair and Balanced" Not on the weekends!
Posted on 02/15/2004 12:19:31 PM PST by ConservativeMan55
The coverage this weekend of the President's Nascar trip has been the worst coverage I've seen on Fox in a long long time. Greg Jarrett keeps asking each correspondent if they "know anything" about Nascar.
James Rosen responded by comparing Nascar to Water Polo. Jarrett then turned to Catherine Herridge and asked her if she knew anything about Nascar. "Its not my speciality." She snidely remarked back to him.
"Well the President isn't there to watch a bunch of cars run around in a circle." Jarrett remarked. "He's obviously trying to get the Nascar Dads vote."
Jarrett continually made references to the possibility that the President is scared that John Kerry was going to take the Nascar Dads vote away from him.
I don't know who in the hell runs Foxnews on the weekend, but it sure as hell ain't the same people that run it during the week. The only bright spot is Brian Wilson on Sunday afternoons. I am glad they put him in there instead of Chris Wallace.
Julian Phillips should be fired. I finally just quit sending e-mails, and quit watching altogether. Its almost a completely different network on the weekends.
Somebody got smart and removed Pat Sajaks show. Ollie's war stories show has been moved exclusively to Sunday nights in order to make way for Rita's trash.
Geraldo is watchable..especially since he's in Iraq and he showcases US Troops.
Anybody else notice the awful crap they've been putting on the weekends. Aside from Brian Wilson and John Kasich. They are the only bright spots.

I've stopped watching O'rielly too. Maybe when their ratings start to drop, they'll figure it out.

Fox News is no longer a "safe-harbor" for conservatives. Even worse. Fox News is no longer a "safe-harbor" for the fair and balanced presentation of an issue.
I no longer turn FNC on in the morning, and if I'm home after 7:00 in the evening...I skip all the cable talk (news) shows, including FNC.
They're all becoming nothing more than tabloid bs.

**During the week it doesn't seem so bad. In fact...Cavuto and Hume have been at the top of their game.**
Agree with you here!

FOX News Sunday totally sucked today. Fox News Sunday has totally sucked every since Tony Snow left. Chris Wallace is a dud. I hate his voice, he has NO personality --- even the panel discussion at the end of the show has lost it's zip. Last week there was a bit of the old energy in an exchange between Brit and Juan Williams. Wallace seemed surprised at the end and commented on the "lively" exchange. Hey, Chris, it used to be like that every week before you took over.
I don't know what has been happening to FNC lately but I have been noticing a definite shift in the anchors and their comments.

**Fox News Watch**
I usually watch this on Saturday after Beltway Boys. But when I miss it, I do watch it. Could be longer. One of the emailers yesterday was begging for an hour show.
Don't know if I could take Jane Hall and Neal Gabler for an hour.

I don't miss Cal. Love his show -- especially the humor/cartoon section -- the voice overs are hilarious.

Saturday morning FOX is great-if one enjoys business shows. Cavuto, Forbes, Cashin' In, etc. I agree with you there. I don't own any stocks and I watch these shows because they are really entertaining.

But at least they broached the Kerry fling rumor! Also showed the papers that were running the story.
Brit was slapping Juan around again today. He does it with such style!

I like when Wayne Rogers (half the reason why the first 2 seasons of M*A*S*H* were so great) is on the finance shows. I keep waiting for him to call Alan Alda, Loretta Swit and Mike Farrell (although he replaced him) commies or something!

What was wrong with that analysis/observation?
The Democrats APPEAR energized because of the mass explosion of media coverage. The Dems have bashed the Bush administration every day for six months with nothing but lies, supposition and inuendo, not facts. The media has allowed this massacre and answered only with trivia regarding Bush's National Guard service. If Bill Kristol wanted to be accurate he would have said, "The Democrats electorate has been energized by continual demoraliztion and debasement of the Bush administration. They have yet to offer one valid point of change, yet they flourish because they have been unchallenged in their smear campaign of George W. Bush. They are not going to overlooked in this campaign because the media favors liberals."

No one has mention Linda Vester's live show. She used to be an excellent reporter. Asked sharp questions.
But this "show" doesn't do her justice!

I turn to FR as my main source for news since FOX became tabloid television. I like their embedded reporters because at least these guys put themselves in dangerous situations and get news firsthand instead of citing other newspapers.

Steve Forbes was arguing with one of his employees-Elizabeth yesterday on the show. She repeated the mantra of "2.5 million jobs lost under Bush." Steve admonished her by saying,"Yes, the payroll survey shows that, but the household survey shows that 700K more jobs were actually created than lost under GWB." She just flat out refused to accept this and repeated herself again. Must be a partisn Kerry fan. The quotes are as close as I recall.
I have heard Larry Kudlow repeat Forbes statement on his show-Kudlow and Kramer. Yet lamestream media never reports the household survey figures, only the payroll survey...At 5.6% unemployment, things really ain't that bad...I survived Carter's 11%.
