Rep. Harold Ford, D-Tenn., who was one of Democratic presidential front-runner John Kerry's earliest backers in Congress, went ballistic Wednesday morning when asked about the photo published Monday by NewsMax.com showing Kerry demonstrating against the Vietnam war with "Hanoi" Jane Fonda.
"Don't bring that up," an angry-sounding Ford told "Fox & Friends" co-host Steve Doocy.
Referring to the controversy over President Bush's military record, Ford threatened to "revive this thing on the National Guard" if questions about Kerry's Jane Fonda connection persist.
The Tennessee Democrat attempted to defend Kerry's decision to team up with Fonda after she adopted his group, Vietnam Veterans Against the War, as her leading cause.
"For someone who went over there and almost gave his life, [Kerry] pretty much can say whatever the heck he wants to say, in my book," he told "Fox & Friends."
But in an audio clip played by top radio host Rush Limbaugh Wednesday afternoon, Ford continued to seethe over the photo picturing his candidate with the Vietnam War traitor.
"If you want to show pictures of him with Jane Fonda and other things, then the president ought to produce all the evidence [about his Guard service]," he railed.
Although it was not clear whether he was speaking for Kerry, Ford offered to cut a deal in a bid to halt discussion over Kerry's relationship with "Hanoi" Jane.
"I'm willing to put all of [Bush's Guard record] aside and not bring any of that up ... but you better do the same with John Kerry," proposed Ford. "It's clear where [Kerry] was [during the early 1970s] And at this moment it's unclear where the president was."
The congressman urged the GOP to keep its focus on the issues that are important to America's future rather than rehashing irrelevant details from Sen. Kerry's past.

Harold Ford was on Dennis Miller the other night. He is a calm, collected, and cool interview. He gave a cursory tongue-lashing to extremists in his party then began to talk about his "concerns" about the current administration.
Harold, a young whippersnapper, is setting himself up to be a Senate candidate in Tennessee in 2006. He even said so in the interview: if Frist doesn't run for re-election, he "wants to run".
Beware of this guy, Tennesseans. He'll run like a moderate and govern like a Clintoon.

Ford threatened to "revive this thing on the National Guard" Is that supposed to be a threat? They've been pounding nothing else for weeks. They have all their shills in the media doing the same thing. To draw this kind of flak, we must be right over the target. |

Ford threatened to "revive this thing on the National GuardIn order to revive something, doesn't it presuppose that it had been DEAD??? These POS dems. have done nothing but squawk endlessly for the past 2 weeks about this. Ford's threat makes me laugh. He's a real frickin' threat.

Kerry looks like he's having a fantacising-over-Fonda ... She does look sorta cute in the photo. Mind you, not in Ann Coulter's league, but still ...
I knew a number of leftist girls in college. Easy to score with and some of them were not bad looking. Girls are the major reason otherwise sensible guys end up as liberals. I know for a fact girls are responsible for all male vegans. Consider Paul McCartney.

We should check the libraries for copies.

And her endorsement of Kerry on CNN today sure isn't going to help Kerry or now Rep Ford. Are you kidding? Did Jane Fonda really endorse John Kerry?
That's S-W-E-E-T!!!!

Rush Limbaugh spoke about this recently. He said the copies were disappearing off the shelves really fast so the Kerry campaign could avoid the stigma of the "Iwo Jima" picture outrage.
I was young and in school when it came out, and my father ranted about it for weeks, because it was disrespectful to the real Iwo Jima vets. Made it a point to look it up today and post it so it would be somewhere.

I'm glad to see Junior finally showing his stripes... just like his old man.
I do not look forward to 2006, when he will make a run at the US Senate. That will be difficult.

What if some of Kerry's supposed wounds were self inflicted?
This thing has hit a nerve for some reason and I believe once John Kerry recieves the nomination it is going to hit the fan. It is to early and things need to be held until he is their nominee I predict.
