I thought because there is a poll on FR that says "If it's Kerry vs Bush how will you vote?" it would be good to start a thread on the matter for people to explain how they voted in the poll, if they choose to do so.

But if I'm right, that puts you in the awful position of possibly being an elitist - no?
Yes it does, as everyone should be. I don't know many people outside of politicians who actively espouse what they know to be wrong

If you're undecided about voting for Bush, then it's a vote for the democrats...obviously, no third party will win. So no vote for Bush IS a vote for the Rats. I have a real problem with this post. You live in a democracy..a country that other smaller nationalities look up to, and yet! you say that a vote, is 'wasted' if it's not for one of the two primary parties?
Ok, that vote may not elect your choice of candidate. But it is CERTAINLY NOT wasted.
The essence of democracy is freedom of choice.
Let the populice decide.
But don't ever suggest that a person should be brow beaten into voting for the two front runners in a five horse race.

I don't have a quibble w/anything you've said.
In fact, if you go back to my post to Carpio you'll see that I say he owes his brothers in arms an apology. I mean I know that's not what your after, but he's gotta come clean, because his initial rise to prominence was accomplished on the backs of his fellow Soldiers. There's no question about it; 'he's a sonofabitch from a way back' insofar as sticking it to his brothers is concerned. So I hope you guys are able to take him on, and I think his run presents a good opportunity to come to a few solid conclusions about the war few like to talk about. Let's revisit Vietnam, if the Vets are up to it. If they're not, I understand that too.

long faced scumbag trashed the Air National Guard the other day I am from New Mexico. A state that had many NG troops on the Bataan death march. Regardless of what honorable service Guard Units gave in other conflicts the Guard and Reserves were used by people seeking to evade actual service during Vietnam.
Only the rich and well connected could get into to the Guard. I entered the Military (was drafted) from Indiana in 1967. There was a waiting list of 20,000 in that state alone waiting to get into the NG. Only the rich and well connected got the slots. Normal folks need not apply.
I was there. That was what happened. Anyone who was drafted at that time can tell you the straight facts and they are as I state. During Vietnam the NG and Reserves were the Rich guy's Draft Dodge. Only people who couldn't get in to the Guard or Reserves went to Canada.
How in the Hell can people forget that in such a short time? OH! Wait a minute!! That was 35 years ago. Most of the people up this late were still babies then! Some still are.

IT'S A WASTED VOTE !
We do NOT live under a parliamentary type system; ergo, voting fringe party takes away vote from some, in one of the two major parties and gives it to the other in absentia. That you ares unable to comprehend this, is your problem.
Oh yes, and we do NOT live in a "democracy", as you claim! We live in a REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC !
To: Mo1
I didn't say anything of the kind, just that dissertations won't work. I don't have any answers on what we should do. The only control I have here is who I vote for, that's it!

Kerry for president maybe he will appoint his old buddy Ramsey Clark as Attorney General and Jane Fonda as the Secretary of State. Yeah, that's the ticket!
This election is too important to mess around with third parties. Our defense and intelligence suffered greatly under Clinton. Kerry would be the straw that breaks the Camels back only after if was purchased at top dollar from Hodgi. He seems to have a love for dealing with our enemies.

George C. Patton called him a traitor. George C. Patton, like George W. Bush, did not serve in Vietnam. Therefore I will respectfully trust my eyes over his opinions when trying to sort out what happened.

A person who doesn't identify with one or the other 2 main parties can get elected. It hasn't happened in the federal level, and probably won't for a while.
In the state and local levels of our federal republic, it is possible and has happened. You can make a case that a vote for a third party in the federal elections is like you are not there and is a waste, however, in the other levels of governance it is incorrect to say so.

First off, thanks for agreeing with me that immigration is, if not the number one issue with you, a critical issue.
My response to your question: NO.
