IT'S A WASTED VOTE !

We do NOT live under a parliamentary type system; ergo, voting fringe party takes away vote from some, in one of the two major parties and gives it to the other in absentia. That you ares unable to comprehend this, is your problem.

Oh yes, and we do NOT live in a "democracy", as you claim! We live in a REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC !

A person who doesn't identify with one or the other 2 main parties can get elected. It hasn't happened in the federal level, and probably won't for a while.

In the state and local levels of our federal republic, it is possible and has happened. You can make a case that a vote for a third party in the federal elections is like you are not there and is a waste, however, in the other levels of governance it is incorrect to say so.

And a vote is valid, once it is exerted.

OK, the person you vote for may not be elected...but that vote is certainly NOT wasted, if it is cast for the person, you validly believe to be your candidate of choice.
