Henry Bowman knew how to deal with public officials that either shirked their responsibilities or abused them.

This didn't have to happen.

Smith was on probation and tested positive for heroin, yet was let go

Its the same old stopry of the justice system failing the public. Nearly every high profile case reveales this truth over and over.

Other recent stories--

Dru Sjodin's murderer had three prior rapes, one with aggravated kidnapping, yet he was out.

David Maust killed three teenagers and buried them in his basement. He had two prior murder convcitions.

Even though not one innocent person has been known to have oied because of the death penalty it takes up all the debate time. Yet innocent people like this girl are killed nearly every day, killed by monsters who should be in prison but somehow aren't. Where is the attention to that issue?

Is it true he came to Florida from New York?
I heard he had a record in New York, as well.
Keep me posted if he did.

In florida, Judges stand for "election". Actually I believe thy are first appointed, then have to face the voters to continue in office. This judge can start packing.

Re: your post. We need a one-strike and you're out rule for certain kinds of animals.

I agree, perhaps a one strike for things like aggravated kidnapping, certain rapes, child molestation, murder of course etc.

I also think they ought to have a two strikes rule, two violent felonies of any sort and you go away forever.

Letting people out over and over to victimize innocent citizens has got to stop. we need a justice system that cares more for the victims than the criminals.

Agreed. What's discouraging for a long-long-long-time conservative is that we've been in the "minority" for most of my voting life. Now that we're not, now that even the grassroots see that conservatism is our only hope . . . the tree-huggers, the "progressives" still hold the microphone. They still control the debate in this country. And, don't kid yourself, they still control the judiciary.

What's frightening to me is this . . . What does it mean to be a PROGRESSIVE? The name implies that the "status quo" will never be a constant . . . like between good and bad, or good and evil . . . and will be forever changing to meet an ever-liberal impulse that drives the rest of the world. Gays will marry gays today. Tomorrow? Adults to marry children? Humans to marry . . . you get the point.

There is never black and white to a PROGRESSIVE. There is never any accountability -- some defense lawyer will explain away Smith's murdering dear Carlie because of a tumble he took on his head when he was a child . . . or because his mother whipped him . . . or because his father drank on Fridays and Saturdays . . . or because he ate two Twinkies the night before Carlie's death.

Progressives and our legal system and all the other elitist organizations and pinheads can never admit most murderers are just evil because they're evil -- that would impugn their naive and dangerous notion that group-hugs cure everything. They believe they're so much more intelligent than us mere mortals that the only reason evil acts are perpetuated in and on society is because that same society hasn't been feeding at their liberal trough, therefore society is to be blamed and deserves every evil act.

It almost makes this long-time conservative wanna just throw up my hands and say . . . "Eff" it!

We won't stop being slaves to the Progressive Agenda until we yank the microphones from their hands. Until we demand the TRUTH from all media organizations. Until we demand that jackasses like Peter Jennings should go back to Canada. Until we demand that laws are laws and law-breakers must be dealt with by Justice's Heavy Hand and the reasons why the evil is perpetuated on society is secondary to the safety of that society.

If the Progressives want to waste their time and money figuring out why jackasses like Smith do what they do . . . fine by me. Slice him and dice him all they want, have shrink after shrink analyze his pea-brain, hug him all they want . . . but do it on Death Row before Florida fries his ass. Maybe their analysis can help stop the next Smith from becoming Smith . . . but I don't particularly care why this one did what he did.

Society's predators can not be allowed to terrorize society again and again and again and again and again and . . .

Judge Rafkin is scared and he's afraid for his family. He's afraid to go for a walk. Welcome to the world you helped shape, J. Rafkin. Phone number for this Judge:
1-941-861-7972. He has voicemail and regular phone line for all next week. www.myflorida.com for Jeb's phone number or jeb.bush@myflorida.com to email Gov. Bush. IMPEACH RAFKIN. He failed to follow his oath and protected the criminal's rights instead of another innocent victim.

Your excellent post . . . thanks by the way . . . has been ping-ponging around in my noodle all day.

We feel helpless, right? Okay, think about this. What is the ONLY thing that gives Tree-huggers, feel-gooders, liberals or Progressives or whatever they call themselves today, or judicial activists pause? What is the only thing that slows their never-ending and insatiable drive to break down the morality of our society?

Public exposure or accountability!

That's it. They hate accountability because is exposes the fact that their "pie in the sky" BS in fact damages our society instead of helping it.

Here's where you and I can make a difference. You only if you have the time to participate . . . if not, just point me in the right direction because I have plenty of time on my hands.

Okay, you did an excellent job of posting Smith's past transgressions. How hard would it be to put the details in table form? One column could list the charges. The next could be the names of the judges presiding over the proceedings. Then the prosecutor. Then the defense attorney. Then the outcome or sentence. Then the reactions of the victim or victim's family.

See where I'm going with this?

You say Smith has been arrested at least 13 times since 1993. How pissed off would the public be if we showed the same judge handled more than one of the proceedings? Or if the same prosecutor allowed Smith to cut deals? Or . . .

What do we do best at Free Republic? Yup, hold those responsible accountable. There is nothing more powerful than an enraged FReeper.

We can name names, give email addresses, give telephone numbers, and hold those responsible accountable.

What this will accomplish is this . . .
1. Selfishly, it will give me the opportunity to vent my frustrations.
2. If done properly, it will stiffen the resolve of those "currently" responsible and all future judges or prosecutors will know that society is looking over their shoulders. It will also let one and all know that society will no longer tolerate this sort of behavior by those who are charged with protecting the Carlie Brucia's of the world.
3. We will slowly but surely begin to take the microphone away from those in the media who have failed us so miserably.
4. We can change the negative, empty feelings we have now into something positive. Something positive that can make an immediate impact.

Wanna help? Or do you just wanna point me in the right direction? I'll be equally thankful for either. I'm not too good at legal research. If you can just point me to some websites where I can find the "detailed" info I'm looking for, that'll be good enough.

They're in Florida, and there's a Bush in the Govnernor's Mansion.

This boy's gonna fry in Ol' Sparky.

He'd ONLY been out on bail since Tuesday and her poor little body was FOUND on Friday? I am sick.

Yudan, here's the problem. Jeb won't be the governor by the time it's this cretin's turn.

We should have stoning arenas like in biblical times and allow the family to stone the s.o.b. to death. Hey, it wasn't considered cruel and unusual then!

I've lost my ming on this one.

I'll tell ya geedee, 5 years ago I couldn't understand how 1st degree or all of the degree murders were released from jail after 5 to 7 years in the joint.

I also thought of doing a database years ago because I lost heart or faith in the American justice system and at the time couldn't understand how a murder could walk the streets after 5-7 years and a guy in Michigan get busted for one joint and gets life.

I agree with you on putting a spotlight on the Judges and the legal system in general like you have described below.

Maybe it's a problem and maybe not.

SOMEBODY will tell the other cons that he raped and killed a little girl.

One way or another, before all is said and done, this guy's gonna pay dearly.

Kinda like that ne'er-do-well that kicked Oogie Carson to death at The Dock in Jackson, Ms - I played little league with that guy, and he was a revolving prick THEN, too. I feel pretty sure that somebody told all the cons in Parchman that he'd kicked an autistic man to death.

I'm sure his life is s dream now.

Hey thanks. I'll check out your links.

Did you see O'Reilly skewer Rapkin last night? Some female defense attorney . . . bleeding-hearter to the bone . . . tried taking up for Rapkin and Wild Bill pounced. I don't watch him much anymore because rabid animals don't float my boat anymore, LOL, but I really enjoyed him blasting Rapkin.

I'm gonna try doing some research on some "high-profile" cases just to see what I come up with. I'd be willing to bet that when I compile an extensive data base we'll see as many "repeat" offending judges as we do criminals who get slaps on the hand.

Liberals, for the most part, are just like child molestors . . . they don't change their spots. But we can at least let the jackasses know we're watching over their shoulders.
