Your excellent post . . . thanks by the way . . . has been ping-ponging around in my noodle all day.

We feel helpless, right? Okay, think about this. What is the ONLY thing that gives Tree-huggers, feel-gooders, liberals or Progressives or whatever they call themselves today, or judicial activists pause? What is the only thing that slows their never-ending and insatiable drive to break down the morality of our society?

Public exposure or accountability!

That's it. They hate accountability because is exposes the fact that their "pie in the sky" BS in fact damages our society instead of helping it.

Here's where you and I can make a difference. You only if you have the time to participate . . . if not, just point me in the right direction because I have plenty of time on my hands.

Okay, you did an excellent job of posting Smith's past transgressions. How hard would it be to put the details in table form? One column could list the charges. The next could be the names of the judges presiding over the proceedings. Then the prosecutor. Then the defense attorney. Then the outcome or sentence. Then the reactions of the victim or victim's family.

See where I'm going with this?

You say Smith has been arrested at least 13 times since 1993. How pissed off would the public be if we showed the same judge handled more than one of the proceedings? Or if the same prosecutor allowed Smith to cut deals? Or . . .

What do we do best at Free Republic? Yup, hold those responsible accountable. There is nothing more powerful than an enraged FReeper.

We can name names, give email addresses, give telephone numbers, and hold those responsible accountable.

What this will accomplish is this . . .
1. Selfishly, it will give me the opportunity to vent my frustrations.
2. If done properly, it will stiffen the resolve of those "currently" responsible and all future judges or prosecutors will know that society is looking over their shoulders. It will also let one and all know that society will no longer tolerate this sort of behavior by those who are charged with protecting the Carlie Brucia's of the world.
3. We will slowly but surely begin to take the microphone away from those in the media who have failed us so miserably.
4. We can change the negative, empty feelings we have now into something positive. Something positive that can make an immediate impact.

Wanna help? Or do you just wanna point me in the right direction? I'll be equally thankful for either. I'm not too good at legal research. If you can just point me to some websites where I can find the "detailed" info I'm looking for, that'll be good enough.

I've lost my ming on this one.

I'll tell ya geedee, 5 years ago I couldn't understand how 1st degree or all of the degree murders were released from jail after 5 to 7 years in the joint.

I also thought of doing a database years ago because I lost heart or faith in the American justice system and at the time couldn't understand how a murder could walk the streets after 5-7 years and a guy in Michigan get busted for one joint and gets life.

I agree with you on putting a spotlight on the Judges and the legal system in general like you have described below.
