In regards to my post about a singluar American city going up in a cloud if we do not stop it, well, no pun intended, that was the conservative side of me speaking, and it was based upon limited and incomplete knowledge. As radio personality Paul Harvey would say, "Now for the rest of the story..."

I have just learned in the past 3 hours, much to my dismay, that the threat actually consists of over 30 some-odd devices. These devices are scattered across the country in major metro areas in multiples of 4 or 5 per location. They are being actively sought by US SOF with great urgency since this past holiday season. Witness the media reports of deployed NEST teams around the country during that time frame. The search continues as we speak. Godspeed to US SOF in their quest.

My quest for knowledge continues as well.

Now if this is true, this has to be about the scariest thing so far. 20-30 nukes? Could you imagine? This is much more than 3 or 4. Does anyone remember the post awhile back about a hit in the winter and one in the summer? Winter will be over soon.

one more thing, how do these search teams have a clue where to look? I don't mean which cities, but once they get to a particular city. What do they do? Look under bridges and junk like that?

I am beginning to think that time is running extremely short before one or more of these things go boom.

I wish I could say that you are just paranoid, or someone is.

But I believe that your information about multiple devices in multiple places is correct.

Please keep us informed.

They could have been positioning these devices even way before 9-11, in the past 10 years, just waiting for the "right" time. The terrorists have also been warning about the destruction of the US, not just "a hit", but total destruction. Considering all the missing nukes, and info which is just in the open literature, it is highly likely to a degree of near certainty that the terrorists have them.

What is the source of this info?

Also, if this is true, why is it so difficult for NEST to find even one of these devices?

Sean, one question for you, the answer to which means a great deal in comprehending the validity of the threat you discuss . . . you say "the threat" actually consists of over 30 some-odd devices . . . is your new info coming from someone within the US military who says we have definitive knowledge of the existence of these devices, or is there merely a threat from the bad guys that says they have this many devices? Your answer makes all the difference in the world, because the bad guys are proven liars.

I read a novel years ago (forgot the title) where a nuke was hidden in a building on an upper floor. In that novel, it was stated that from the ground, the NEST teams can only scan up to about the 4th floor with their equipment. Any knowledge of this?

Sean - that is frightening news indeed. HOWEVER..

IF the bad guys have pre-positioned nukes on American soil, why haven't they used them yet?

They have had ample opportunity for "spectacular" strikes:

Yet, nothing has "gone up in a mushroom cloud".

Not to be cynical, but I am very doubtful as to the accuracy of the info. IF AQ has nukes, they sure could have done some SERIOUS damage by now - and on a timetable that would have complied with their hyperbolic threats (remember "the countdown clock" and the "we will nuke NYC by 2/2" statement?)

The countdown clock has expired. Nothing went "boom".

I have serious doubts that AQ nukes is a "real" threat, but thank you for passing along the information. (I did believe this at one point given the huge amount of info out there on Russian suitcase nukes and the quite believable possibility that AQ had acquired at least "a handful" of them - but, the lack of vaporized cities makes me think that all of this hypothesizing and associated rumor mills is just interesting conjecture that may be frightening beyond words but not necessarily based in fact).

I guess that's what makes this thread valuable - we hear all sorts of data points, and can come to our own individual conclusions on what is real, and what is put out for whatever other political or positioning purposes.
