Just started checking this thread. A close friend just called from Frederick, Maryland. She said that in today's paper, there is an article saying that they have put in place an emergency plan to use an area of Frederick to shelter refuges from a dirty bomb attack in DC. Apparently there is quite a bit of disagreement about the plan among local officials. Now, I know we have numerous emergence plans (same friend worked at FEMA), but why broadcast this now? Any ideas, folks?

Interesting. I've had a similar concern. On Wednesday my kids brought home a brochure (for the second time this year) that has the evacuation plans, and the various emergency shelters in case of a disaster during school hours. I thought it strange that they send them out TWICE in one school year.

Fairgrounds anti-terror site

FREDERICK -- The Frederick Fairgrounds has been picked as the site for radiation decontamination and for locating mass casualties in the event hundreds, or thousands, flee to Frederick in the wake of a "dirty bomb" attack in Washington, according to a plan that officials tried to keep secret.
