SANAA, Yemen, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A purported statement by al-Qaida in Yemen warned Saturday of a "major strike" soon in the United States.

The statement, distributed by the Yemeni Tagamoo Party for Reforms, said: "A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," reminiscent of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Good afternoon MamaD. Unfortunately Washington (except for the sparsely populated eastern portion) has voted extreme liberal for a long time. That's why we have Cantwell and Murray. King Co. can pretty much determine the political path of the entire state. These results disappoint me but they don't surprise me.

IMO, Oregon and Washington should be divded vertically rather than horizontally. Then the liberals would have their own state and the conservatives would have there's.

FRENCH counter-terrorist police believe that a Sydney associate of accused terrorist Willie Brigitte used computer programs to plot the layout of Australian military bases and tried to obtain chemicals to make a bomb.

The claim is one of several to be made tomorrow on the Nine Network's Sunday program, based on information provided by investigators.

Others include a suggestion that the Sydney associate and Brigitte were in contact with a "handler" in Pakistan - an alleged member of the terrorist group Lashkar e Toiba (LET).

Authorities in Australia and France have believed since the time of Brigitte's arrest in Sydney on October 7 that he was connected to LET - and by proxy the leadership core of its sponsor, al-Qa'ida. According to Sunday, Brigitte has admitted in official interrogations to training with LET in explosives and other weapons, as well as high-altitude endurance.

Now it seems to have become more combattive, as you say, to put it mildly. It's a shame, because this is the beginning of the end of an interesting thread, as the many of the very people, who contributed good information fade away.

Your comment bears repeating. IMO this has been a very informative thread (all three of them) as well as educational and at times entertaining. I, for one, do not wish it to die an unnecessarily premature death due to squabbling. Can't we leave that to O'Rilley, Hannity and Colmes?

You are correct about that. In a world where the Ten Commandments has become an ACLU enemy (and judges concur), he needs to use his presidential power to do the right things for the right reasons. Our prayers for his actions, correct motivations and safety are indeed necessary, or we'll all be dealing with the consequences. In any event, lots of prayer is needed for this country and its citizens for the days ahead.
