SANAA, Yemen, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A purported statement by al-Qaida in Yemen warned Saturday of a "major strike" soon in the United States.

The statement, distributed by the Yemeni Tagamoo Party for Reforms, said: "A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," reminiscent of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Not only is Bush in danger of being swept out of office, but I can even see the Democrats taking control of both houses of Congress in 2004.

Many Freepers and lurkers are under estimating the national discontent among the middle class over job security, immigration, and access to health care that is affordable. Plus the folks on this forum tend to forget that Bush was elected in 2000 with a minority of the popular vote. Add a potential conservative revolt over GWB's domestic policies and the fading memory of 9/11, and you get a recipe for electoral disaster.

The bottom line is that the 2004 election results may doom the nation to a loss of security from its enemies and loss of sovereignty to the UN one worlders. Perhaps we need to focus more energy on electing Republicans as imperfect as they may be, and less time on focusing on external threats that we can little influence as individuals.

Something is really fishy in Pakistan and bears close watching. This article is long but VERY enlightening going back over the years of lies and deception.................the pardoning of Khan by Musharraf is very suspect indeed..........(read keeping in mind that India may have a slanted view on this) But the facts speak for themselves......

The Nuclear Jihad
Till now, strategic analysts have been focusing only on the dangers of a possible Talibanisation or Al Qaedisation of the Pakistan Army. It is time now to pay more attention to Pakistan's scientific community as well.

B. RAMAN

An update of The WMD Trail

Pakistan is not the original birth place of the Islamic fundamentalist and jihadi organizations. Islamic fundamentalism and jihadi terrorism were born elsewhere in the Islamic Ummah and thereafter spread to Pakistan after the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.

But, Pakistan is the original birth place of the concept of the nuclear jihad, which highlighted the need for an Islamic atomic bomb and advocated the right and the religious obligation of the Muslims to acquire weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and use them, if necessary, to protect their religion. The jihadi terrorists and their ideologues in Pakistan perceived the nuclear weapon as the ultimate weapon of retribution against States which they viewed as enemies of Islam, particularly the USA and Israel....continued here.......

How about Leavenworth awaiting being keelhauled under our biggest aircraft carrier for treason among other crimes?

Or sentenced for treason during wartime and . . . . aided in 'decorating' the yard arm?

Not sure how we could justify keel hauling Shrillery . . . but I'm sure we could come up with a list of treason charges if we half tried.

Much agreed.

Sigh.

I do have some hope . . .

IF Bush prays earnestly one hour before leaving his private quarters as people I trust insist he does,

THEN SOMEHOW, God will get him in the right place by election time.

But we all need to be praying for his guidance, staff etc.

AND,

that any threats to him from the puppet masters be neutered effectively.

I believe our nation and our world will look

VERY, VERY DIFFERENT by election time.

I just don't know what major components or aspects will be how different in what ways.

But I BELIEVE, pray, hope, trust that evil will be more at least blunted and good more in triumph.

But there will be a lot of . . . collateral damage of some kind between here and there . . . . if my hunch is right.

Pakistani sources claim that there has been another bombshell in the admissions of guilt made by Khan's colleagues and juniors, who are still under custody and questioning. They are reported to have stated that during his over 40 visits to Dubai in the last three years, he had met Iraqi intelligence officials who sought his help in having some of the weapons of mass destruction (WMD) material of Iraq airlifted from Syria to Pakistan for being kept in safe custody there to prevent their falling into the hands of the UN inspectors. Khan allegedly agreed to their request. According to them, in October,2002, Khan had a Pakistani aircraft, which had gone to Iran to deliver some equipment, stop in a Syrian airport on its way back . It picked up the Iraqi WMD "material" and brought it to Pakistan for safe custody on behalf of Iraq. It is not clear what did they mean by material -- only documents or something more?

The changes will be God-engineered and ultimately for the better. He does all things well.

But that kind of change is still . . . not likely to be overwhelmingly comfortable for all concerned.

I've got to get back to my grading but will be checkin in and out.

Sean, there is no doubt in my mind that Russia is our largest threat today in terms of "capability". I just do not know if they represent as great a threat in terms of actually carrying out an attack (due to treaties, mutual interests and common threats) presently as perhaps N. Korea, Iran, and until recently Iraq. This is my dilemma. I have done considerable research and have yet to find hard evidence even remotely indicative of imminent danger from Russia outside of the upcoming exercise this month. Perhaps there are sources of information pointing to the contrary, but either they are not available to the public or I haven't found them yet.

"help me understand why you feel Russia's upcoming exercises are designed as a warning, not so much to the U.S., but more so to N. Korea and Iran to "backoff" so to speak when Russia, in fact, is known to have assisted these countries with much of the techology and knowledge necessary to produce their nuclear weapons programs."

I mentioned in a previous post that I am referring to the aftermath or crossfire of an international crisis involving these countries. Terrorist proxies are being used against Russia as well as us. They are under jihadi attacks sponsored by external forces. Those forces may use WMD terrorism or its threat to compel Russian acquiescence to their strategic objectives (just as AQ has tried with US - - w/draw from Mideast, stop supporting Israel, etc). If Russia were hit with a 9/11 or worse, and they could trace it back to a government that supported the act or harbored those who did (like we did in Afghanistan), they would be virtually powerless to react conventionally as they are unable to project significant conventional power beyond their borders.

North Korea and Iran are not Russian puppets because they receive Russian aid any more than Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are American puppets because they received American aid.

Nuclear war in the Mideast, the Subcontinent, the Taiwan Straits, or the Korean Peninsula would be as serious for them as it would be for us

Anyway, like I have already said, this is most-likely election related.

Clinton tried to take away a GOP issue when he focused on welfare reform in the mid-1990s. Pres. Bush is trying to take away Medicare from the democrats (misguided though it may be) with his drug benefit. Putin is trying to take away the patriotism issue away from the national-socialists.

Putin's opposition is not communists. Communism is dead. The two choices in Russia now are not democracy and communism. They are nationalism and neo-fascism (national socialists). If you don't like Putin, try a 21st century Hitler. The communist candidate for President will not make the runoff, may not even come in third, and may not even get 15% of the vote.

On the other hand, Putin's Nationalist Party (United Russia) controls 2/3rds of the parliament, and the other third is split between the Motherland Party (Rodina) which is national-socialist, the LDP (which is neo-fascist), and the communists.

The communists are no longer a major factor in Russia.
