SANAA, Yemen, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A purported statement by al-Qaida in Yemen warned Saturday of a "major strike" soon in the United States.

The statement, distributed by the Yemeni Tagamoo Party for Reforms, said: "A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," reminiscent of the Sept. 11 attacks.

I saw something interesting in the sky on the way home Sunday afternoon...two spots looked like high up jets, one ,military fighter,the other larger like a high flying commercial jet. They had small contrails.

The third thing looked a bit like a vertical pin...needle thin and I wouldn't have been able to see it at all except for the sun hitting it at just the right angle...it vanished when it changed direction. No contrail at all. We saw this once before after 9/11 too.

I'm assuming it's that new camo paint they have for the jets.

You can scan a lot more than four floors. Radiation has an effect called "groundshine" that makes it radiate in 360 degrees from its point of rest.

An object located in a 4th floor apartment would "shine" radiation up, down, and to the sides. Once you get a "stray" gamma reading, you simply triangulate it to the source.

Its easy to tell "stray" gamma from radon and naturally occuring radiation. You look for a spike among natural radiation backgrounds, and then narrow the spike down to a point of origin.

Remember, however, that you are probably looking for something barely above background level and its a treacherous thing to pick out unless you are really good at it.

Thats it, Telaviv to Bulgaria and the on to Novasibirsk, flying across the lower portian of the Black Sea, several hundred miles away from the excercise,first they deny it, Russians back them up, we provide proof, they change story,now they are sorry, it was just an accident. This was oct 5 2001, plane goes down in new york after take off, oct 9th, 2001. All this a month after 9/11. IMHO we may be facing something much larger than just AQ.

If my memory serves me right, radon levels drop in the winter. I don't think it would be much of a problem...maybe if you were living in the Reading Prong.

The terrorists have also been warning about the destruction of the US, not just "a hit", but total destruction.

Well, even with 30 devices, they wouldn't achieve "total destruction".

Sure, they'd make a heckuva mess of things, and kill about 3 million (plus or minus) people. BUT..the US has around *300* million people - and the 297 million that are left would be really, REALLY PO'd.

30 (or even 3) nukes would start WWIII quite easily. The ME would be vaporized in retaliation. Russia MAY enter the fray, along with China. We'd retaliate. The earth would be TOAST. Game over. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

What kind of real-estate would be left for AQ to build their promised land? NOTTA. Nothing here. Nothing in AsiaPac. Nothing in EMEA. Diddly.

So, what would AQ have to gain by detonating even *3* nukes? Just the end to them and everything else around them.

Doesn't seem like so hot of a plan to me.

ROME - Italy has become a departure point for suicide attackers linked to al-Qaida and active against U.S.-led forces in Iraq, according to an Italian intelligence report released Tuesday.

The document also warned that forces staging anti-coalition attacks in Iraq might expand their scope and targets.

NEW '9/11' FOILED (Saudi AF Pilot Arrested)

February 10, 2004 -- Saudi authorities have arrested a fighter pilot under suspicion of planning to crash a jet in Israel in a Sept. 11-style terror attack, it was reported yesterday.

The pilot had allegedly been recruited by al Qaeda to carry out the homicide mission against an undisclosed target, Israeli TV reported. Saudi investigators are rounding up other people who may have been involved in the plot, and the investigation is continuing, the report said.

I was thinking about the things you listed and trying to reassure myself. Then, I semi remembered the supposed "letters" sent to GWBush, and how supposedly if we conceeded certain things (like returning all the Muslim lands, etc.)they would call off the attack. Then, that last letter where they said we had not responded so they had no choice but to go ahead.
Another part that worries me is all the AQ advance apologies.
