I just got the news that my precious son's (age 4) blood tests are back. He has Alpha 1 and the numbers on his liver enzymes are shooting up again.
His alkalines have almost doubles, as have ALT and AST. In short, it's not real good. Our wonderful doctor wants to check again in 3 months, but thinks we'll be headed back to Vandy for more aggressive treatment.
Please pray for his health & healing if it is God's will. Also, please pray for us as we cope. I will most certainly give God the glory and ya'll my heartfelt thanks.
Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (AAT Deficiency or Alpha-1) is one of the most common serious hereditary disorders in the world and can result in life-threatening liver disease in children and adults or in lung disease in adults.
I'm going to have a bit of a cry now. He begged to go to Granny's for a few hours and I just couldn't say no.

Kimmie, I have asked our Lord to look after both of you on the trip. Have also prayed that the Doctors will see your precious son quickly and will have the answer that you have been looking for.I will continue my prayers until I hear that he is healed.
Do hold on to the hand of God and I am sure you will make the right decisions. I pray that the trip will also be enjoyable for you and your son. May God hold both of you in his hands and keep you safe.

You have my heart felt prayers. As a grandmother of 4 year old twin boys I know how precious 4 year olds can be. Please don't hesitate to "share" your son with his Granny. The time they share will be good for both of them and it will give you a much needed break to recharge your batteries. Good luck and may God bless your family.

Still praying!
The only advice I have on flying with kids is this: Project confidence. My 8 year old is quite bright and September 11th is burned in his brain (he called 911 when he saw the second plane hit) and he knows planes crash. I could see he was getting a little worked up, so I made sure he sat next to me at a window seat. I'm a former KC-135 tanker crew chief, so I've done quite a bit of flying, and he could see that this was a zero sweat operation for the guy who he thinks knows everything there is to know about planes. I think it made a difference; when we got off the plane for our layover, his first questions was, "How soon can we get back on?" :-)

Daughters of the American Revolution have a terrific museum. It's free (they accept donations) and provide a guide. Even better, there are some very old toys that they have that children can play with. He'd love it.
