[history]
Sen. Edward M. Kennedy yesterday said President Bush shouldn't be re-elected because the administration marched the country to an unjustified but long-planned war with Iraq by twisting the truth and capitalizing on fear.
"The administration capitalized on fear created by 9/11, put a spin on the intelligence, and put a spin on the truth to justify a war that could very well become one of the worst blunders in more than two centuries of foreign policy," the Massachusetts Democrat said in a speech yesterday. "We did not have to go to war."

Actually .. Hillary has read Teddy's FBI file and he will waddle to the mic and say whatever she demands. Teddy's senate seat is safe so she can use him to spew her HATE-BUSH garbage while she appears moderate.
Move-on .. nothing to see here.

Wrong Lisa. His fortune was made off early by taking huge positions and pushing the market. He was one of the biggest players in the NYSE going into the depression. When the market crashed he and a couple of others just happened to be on the short side of most of the market. He made a killing as the market fell. Later he was made the head of the SEC to stop traders from doing what he had just done. That is a fact about Camalot that is not often spoken.

Now, now . . . you're all being way too damned hard on Teddy-Boy. We're supposed to be a compassionate society and Massachoooooookistan's senior Senator confessed long ago that he's IQ-challenged and prone to lapses of memory, yet you still insist on belittling him.
I give you his confession from July 19, 1969 . . ."On July 18, 1969, at approximately 11:15 PM in Chappaquiddick, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, I was driving my car on Main Street on my way to get the ferry back to Edgartown. I was unfamiliar with the road and turned right onto Dike Road, instead of bearing hard left on Main Street. After proceeding for approximately one-half mile on Dike Road I descended a hill and came upon a narrow bridge. The car went off the side of the bridge. There was one passenger with me, one Miss Mary ________( There was a blank space here because Kennedy was not sure of the spelling of the dead girl's last name, and instead offered a rough phonetic approximation ), a former secretary of my brother Sen. Robert Kennedy. The car turned over and sank into the water and landed with the roof resting on the bottom. I attempted to open the door and the window of the car but have no recollection of how I got out of the car. I came to the surface and then repeatedly dove down to the car in an attempt to see if the passenger was still in the car. I was unsuccessful in the attempt. I was exhausted and in a state of shock. I recall walking back to where my friends were eating. There was a car parked in front of the cottage and I climbed into the back seat. I then asked for someone to bring me back to Edgartown. I remember walking around for a period of time and then going back to my hotel room. When I fully realized what had happened this morning, I immediately contacted the police."
So see, you heartless FReepers, Senator Kennedy should be exalted for overcoming these confessed-disabilities yet you choose to chastise and ridicule. You should be ashamed.
I guess only the clueless liberals of Massachoooooookistan recognize talent when they see it.

Oh, I have no doubt that he scammed the stockmarket, although I think that's one I had not heard before. Thanks for the info on that.
I was just saying that his family got their start in bootlegging.
This man had a very long list of misdeeds.

An excellent book on Teddy is "Senatorial Privilege". It's been a few years since I read it, but I believe it was written with the help of one who dared to leave the "inner circle". Great read.

Yup...it was.
I've always felt one could find an appropriate line from the Godfather trilogy for any thread here on FR.
