We need to do evrything we can to help Dean get the Dems. nomination. If that happens, the Dem. party will might lose enough Senate seats to give Bush the 60 Pubs. he needs.

Iowa is strange....any state that elects Harkin AND Grassley, and keeps re-electing them..is politically psychotic... George Will this morning on Imus referred to Iowa as "midieval". LOL!

Harkin calls Dean 'pile of dung'
In an interview on "Fox News," Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), endorsed Howard Dean in a very peculiar statement, even for the senator from Iowa. Harkin was the senator who called the House impeachment case a "sham, partisan action" and the evidence presented "a pile of dung".
Today, Harkin stated, "I don't think there's any way that we can cloak with any dignity the reckless action taken by some loyal Democrats by pushing for the nomination of Howard Dean. All we can do is hope to cloak ourselves with some dignity in handling this pile of dung. Let's face it, we have a mess on our hands.
"As I've said many times, I know what dung is. I've dropped, kicked it, and worked it with my hands just to stay warm. You see, my family was dirt poor. We ate on dirt floors. We slept on dirt floors. My Pappy was an itinerant acrobat, performing dog tricks for the amusement of local wheat farmers. Pappy jumped and rolled and tumbled all the live long day. But nobody ever gave Pappy a dime.
"My Mommy worked as a restaurant waitress. Sometimes Mommy was so hungry she would lick the breakfast bowls, the lunch plates, and the dinner dishes of her customers just to stay alive. Nobody ever gave Mommy a dime.
"That's why it gives me great pleasure to endorse Howard Dean, the farmer-doctor from the great state of Vermont, to be the next Democratic nominee to flame out in a presidential contest against a Republican. I can see it now. His portrait will right hang right next to the portraits of Al Gore, Michael Dukakis, Walter Mondale and our beloved George McGovern.
"Sure, I know what some of you are thinking. That this guy, Howard Dean, is a draft-dodging, tax-hiking, government-expanding, latte-drinking, sushi-eating, Volvo-driving, New York Times-reading, body-piercing, Hollywood-loving, left-wing freak show who ought to go back to Vermont where he belongs. But what did you expect? He'll make a good Democrat -- or I'll eat my pile."

Harks endorsment may sound like good news. But I'm actually rather disappointed. I'm hoping for a close race which would force the front runner(s) to spend most their dough in the primaries.

Shouldn't this headline read: Harkin endorses Dean....kind of? (See articles on e-mail that Harkin actually thinks Gephardt would make a better prez, but he's endorsing Dean because he thinks he's the one who will win the nomination.)
