[history]
I thought I'd post this just because it's interesting to learn about what the Democrat establishment is thinking.
Prior to joining FNC, Colgan was a Democratic fundraising and political consultant, and campaign manager for both David Wecht for Pennsylvania's superior court and Catherine Baker Knoll for state treasurer.

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but the
only time Condi has ever mentioned abortion was years ago, she stated given the times she was "reluctantly pro-choice".
What exactly does that mean? Did she say it because she is "OK" with abortion in cases of incest or rape? Does it mean that given todays climate she doesn't see an alternative until the # of unwanted pregnancies go down? Did she say this well before ultrasound and medical technologies prove that "fetuses" are human beings?
I don't really know the answer to this question, but it seems to me that someone who years ago said she was "reluctantly pro-choice" could easily reevaluate that position. I know that I have over the years.
So all I ask is that until she comes straight out and says that as of today, 2004 I am pro-choice, give her a chance.

Cheney has had this health problem for many years and since
recent implant and constant doctoring is probably in better health than ever. Don't forget only the Dems would like to see him evaporate, as he has bigtime natural born gravitas!
Let them spin, our President and VP are a great team and having Condi on their team is added gravitas! Bush will not leave Cheney behind, nor would he have chosen him if there was more than a reasonal expection of Cheney getting too ill to serve.

I agree. Putting Condi on the ticket for 2004 would serve no purpose, since no one knows the effect of putting a black and/or woman on the ticket right now. Had GW been in serious trouble politically it would make sense to "throw a bomb" with a choice like Condi, but in the current environment Bush would need a "safe" pick not one that could upset the apple cart.

**Because a pro-Abortion Black woman can't be elected in this country**
Thanks for the clarification, it was just the way the statement was worded I was questioning.
I love Condi, but also agree she can't be elected cause, like it or not, getting a woman elected is still pretty far off, IMO, let alone a black woman.
**...We need a true conservative for president**
That also is true, but again I don't think the majority of the voting public will vote for a "true" conservative. This may have to happen little by little over time with each one being a little more conservative then the former.

I totally agree, have you seen how she handles the press? She grabs um by the nose and kicks them in the ass. I want Cheney to stay aboard but if there is a replacement for the Team it will be condi. Remember how Cheney got the Job, he was sent to research the candidates for VP for GWB then Bush said you are the guy. He wasn't seeking it. I'm sure he likes it but if he got the chance to Fly fish in Jackson hole anytime he wanted I bet you he would say cool.

I don't want Condi as the veep nominee for one reason and one reason only: Then we'd have to put up with that hag Ferraro on TV all the time telling us what it's like to be a woman veep nominee. I hope that witch gets carjacked.

Why don't you get off of this PRO-CHOICE, crap, with the availability of the morning after pill, good for up to 72 hours after sex, pro choice is a moot point. Do like the Dems do and just forget it, instead of beating up half of the Repub party.

BS... Condi is not a Bomb out from no where. She is a well known possibility from the moment she started to be seen with Bush way before the election, Bush has no trouble putting whomever in slots he likes regardless if the upset the apple cart. Your analysis is incorrect.

Powell and Rice have both said they support affirmative action and that alone makes them unacceptable to me. They probably support it because it's what allowed them the positions they currently hold. I don't want a moderate VP who will run for president in 2008. That will be the definite end to the Conservative part of the Republican party if it happens. We need a VP that is more conservative than Bush.
To: Conservative_Nationalist
We need a true conservative for president and not these people you guys keep naming like Powell, Rice, and Guiliani. Yeah...I mean after 8 years of controlling the WH, Senate and Congress; Republicans can finally start acting conservative; roll back government, roll back liberalism, roll back PC. I mean, that IS the strategery right?

Cheney will stay unless he suffers some severe medical set-back. Bush said he's the man. To dump him w/o verifiable medical cause opens Bush up to too many questions, eg, "Are you uncomfortable with Cheney's Halliburton ties?", "Is dumping Cheney indicative of your displeasure with the progress of administration efforts in Iraq or the WOT in general?"....etc.
Rudy is not an option regardless of post 9.11 hero status. He is the quintessential non-team-player, not the sort W. wants to replace a trusted advisor. Rudy is also too polarizing, too ethnic, too Catholic, too liberal for most of the Republican Party to put a heartbeat away. The way he handled the dissolution of his marriage, very heavy-handed and in public, then moving in with a gay friend before going public with his mistress is not exactly in line with mid-America's values, let alone Bush's faith based personal system. And, forget what it would cost in the soccer mom demographic.
Condi has too many un-answered (and as yet un-asked)questions about her personal life. Her known qualifications put her already in the right place. And, if the FR is an indication of conservative mindset, there are still multitudes in America who are generations away from putting a Black Woman a heartbeat away, regardless of qualification.
My bet is a voluntary step-down by Cheney in late 2005 to mid 2006. This gives Bush the chance to pick the 2008 contender and give him a couple of years of grooming. Exactly who that will be I wouldn't hazard except to say I don't think it would be either Rudy or Condi. Folks have proffered Ridge but where's the beef? The borders are still open, and even though there have been no new attacks it would only take one for him to feel the chill.

I agree we need to slowly move toward more conservative candidates but we are doing the opposite and slowly moving toward more moderate candidates. If Colin or Rudy ever get elected president that will probably end the conservative movement because those guys are liberal compared to Bush(Who is kind of liberal himself).

I won't comment on your assessment of Condi's resume as "weak". That comment was silly on its face. And the last president who'd never been elected on their own? John Patrick Ryan, and it took a bit of literary chutzpah to pull that off. Before that? WWII hero General Dwight Eisenhower. And before that? Another general. Before that? Another general.
Last I checked Condi was the National Security Advisor, a professor on leave from Stanford. Not a war hero general, and not a fictional character who had singlehandedly saved the world from disaster several times. She's never passed a law or led . . . anything.

I'm a "Big Time" Cheney fan, If the republicans dump Cheney for no good reason, I might dump them.
When, oh when, are people going to get it. This is a President who says what he means, and keeps his word. The Bush-Cheney bumper stickers and yard signs have already been printed.
All of the talking heads on TV, and all of the pundits who write opinion columns, taken together don't have a fraction of the honor George W. Bush has.
None of the talking heads on TV (and in print) know what the 'eff' they are talking about the vast majority of time. They are paid to flap their gums no matter what they say. Most of the time, they say the obvious the exact same thing you and I can figure out on our own. Some of the time they say outrageous things just to stand out from the crowd. ALL OF THE TIME, THEY ARE TALKING UP THEIR BUTTS WITHOUT A FLASHLIGHT!!!!!

Just because we have come along way in equality doesn't mean that Americans are going to vote for Women or blacks. What to say, what to say???????? I'm a 55 year-old female hoping to vote for a Black Female Conservative.
I don't care who is president, as long as the policies are in order.
Good grief, what is wrong with you????

A "Realist" faction? Where did that brainfart come from LaRouche? Is that the faction that opposes the "Fantasist" faction or the "Dreamer" faction? Or the "Jerkoff" faction?
Or the "Yada Yada" faction?
Anyone who has ever looked at Cheney's health history has major concerns about him. Doesn't mean there is any less love or regard for him. But an actual Realist as opposed to any fantasized "Realists" understands well that the probability of an unwanted health event is far too high for comfront.
Precautions are wise under the circumstances. Rat awareness of this does not mean they sense an opening but more likely another huge problem for them.

I'm not saying that it matters to me. It may not matter to you either but the fact is that it will matter to MANY people. Just because you don't want that to be true doesn't mean it isn't. I don't want Condi to run for president because I disagree with her on abortion and affirmative action. I don't know why so many people posting on this thread want a republican who supports abortion and affirmative action no matter what race or sex they are.
