This exemplifies the problem inherent in any philosophical system rooted in mysticism -- that means religion.
I know a fundamentalist Christian -- a Bible person -- that would execute all homosexuals, that drove his entire family to leave and shun him, that maxes out credit cards without paying (probably uses identify theft), that lives on garbage -- all the result of his incredible belief in ... mysticism.
They can be monsters.

Tell it to those French Rationalists who instituted the reighn of terror. Or those atheist communists who killed something like 100 million people. Or Ted Bundy, for that matter.
The problem it "exemplifies" is that people often do horrible things for any number of reasons.

Non mystics can be monsters also...i.e. the communist regimes all over the world. There are bad apples in every group, but speaking as a Christian, I don't know anyone who eats garbage, who hates enough to execute,or who has driven their family away. I do know people who are loving and charitable and who care about each other.I think you paint with a pretty broad brush.

what a bizarre person you know.
of course your definition of religion is "From hunger."
for Christian biblicalists (Fundamentalists if you will), religion means "visiting the sick, and the widows, and avoiding the stains of sin." nothing more. nothing less.

Your post shows poor logic.
You talk about one person you know, then conclude, "they can be monsters." As if it's all of "them."
And your assumption that this person is a Christian is shakey, assuming all of what you say about him is true.

This exemplifies the problem inherent in any philosophical system rooted in mysticism -- that means religion. Careful there, ace. Christianity and Judaism are rooted in history.
True, some people abuse religion. But then, some people abuse atheism (think Stalin and Pol Pot). Their abuse doesn't change the facts.
Shalom.

He's insane, and so are you if you think anyone is buying this garbage.

The muslim is actually trying to follow and be a good muslim, the Christian is not.

They can be monsters. It's a good link Joseph Stalin, Adolph Hitler, Mao Ze Dung, Fidel Castro, Saddam Hussein, Hafez alAssad, Papa Doc Duvalier, Benito Mussilini, and Pol Pot did not have the problem inherent in any philosophical system rooted in mysticism -- that means religion.
That is such a relief. We better watch out for that fundamentalist Christian you know. He could be dangerous.

Yeah, thank...Darwin...for kind, gentle rational souls like Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot, Castro...etc.
