Call the WHite HOuse to Thank Bush for CFR!!!

Posted on 12/10/2003 1:09:18 PM PST by Maceman

For what good it will do, I just called the White House switchboard (202-456-1111) and conveyed my extreme outrage at Bush for not vetoing CFR when he had the chance.

I hope you all will do the same.

BTW, the operator told me "you are not alone."

Let's shut down the WH switchboard with howls of protest.

If I wasn't still even more terrified of the Democrats than I am of the Republicans (albeit barely at this point), I would never support Bush in '04 after this.

I've enjoyed the conversation. Sorry to offend. You seem to genuinely care about our nation. And for that I salute you. Regards.

The fact you cannot see this is a complete abrogation of the 1st Amendment is staggering.

Thats the best line I've seen all day.

Not just the Senators, all incumbents.

Yes, that's what this is all about.

That, and whether they can boil the frogs slowly enough that they never rise up and take notice.

the Perot voters gave us 8 years of Clinton.

No, it was George Bush Sr.'s Chinese sellout that gave us 8 years of Clinton.

The thing that is so damnable about Bush is that he could have prevented this so easily and he chose to sign the bill.

He could have prevented alot of things, but he signs anyway. That is why I won't be voting for him.

You are more upset over CFR than illegals voting? Maybe some prioritizing is in order.

Seeing as the Republicans have placed 7 of the last 9 Judges and most of them are Liberals, I wouldn't be bragging if I were you. They seem to have the same problem recognizing a Conservative that half the "Republicans" here have.

You notice I've received no reply to that post. How totally predictable with this cast of characters. These people make it up as they go along. They'll happily contradict their earlier statements or ignore the facts to promote their overriding goal: GOP = good.

I expect that the courts will resolve these legitimate legal questions as appropriate under the law.

That's not exactly a prediction that the courts will overturn the provisions that Bush said he found questionable. It's a punt, saying, if there are real constitutional problems, it's up to the courts to resolve them.

That being said, I will do nothing to help elect Dean or Hillary. I will, however, make my views known to the White House and participate in efforts to have this law repealed.

What an incredibly sound idea! I can understand anyone's contempt for this law, as well as contempt for Bush for signing it. He deserves to be smacked around a bit for doing so. But it's not worth getting so worked up that one would take action (or inaction) in November '04 that would help a Dem gain the White House.

Heck, the EO closing executive offices on 12/26 and paying the government employees without requiring they take vacation is, in principle, another retreat from conservative ideals. Will I support Dean as a result? Hell no.

Guess we need to do something about getting more constitutional judges on the bench. This bill will break the Democrats back.
Maybe the Democrat voters won't notice, and their politicians will keep filibustering honest judicial canidates anyway.

I couldn't resist bringing up GWB's past drug use.

He never did drugs. Sure, the liberals lied, but they do that against every Republican.
BTW, about those Clinton coke paties in the Whitehouse. Monica testified about that, didn't she?

And notice how I'm spelling the President now? B-U-S-C-H?

Oh, you mean just like Coward Dean the Homo Queen. You know, the draft dodger trying to run as commander and chief of the military??? Yeh. He's admitted to be a good 'ol drinkin boy himself.

See, the only problem is that I can't tell the difference between the D's and R's now. What difference does it make if we have D or Bush in there anyway? Iraq maybe but I'm thinking if any D was in Bush's shoes, they would probably have done the same thing he is doing. Tax cuts? Don't make me laugh. What tax cuts? The IRS is still in business and continues to terrorize U.S. citizens and will continue to be under either Bush or a D. So tell me the difference.

You just lost the sliver of credibility you had on this forum.

The DU trolls came out in chunks on yesterdays thread. They're not the smartest birds in the barnyard, and they came here to learn about CFR. They saw Republicans not liking the unconstitutionality of the judges decision, so now they like CFR (They're not really sure why). If it's unconstitutional, it's Democrat.
Of course, the bill signs their political death warrent, but they haven't figured that one out yet.

I don't know why there's Bush Bashing at all. Sounds pretty rabid to me.
Bush is one heck of an honest man. He said some parts of CFR were good, some bad. He requested the SCOTUS to do the right thing and sort it out.
They didn't.
Instead of going after the good guy, why aren't we demanding honest Judicial appointees instead? The liberal activists on the bench failed us, not Bush.

fly_so_free : the Perot voters gave us 8 years of Clinton.

No, it was George Bush Sr.'s Chinese sellout that gave us 8 years of Clinton.

Not to mention Bush Sr's sellout of the taxpayers. And Bush Sr's sellout on the 2nd Amendment.

However small the differences are, and I agree they do converge too much on many issues, they exist. In order to move this nation rightward, it makes no sense to take a step to the Left, regardless of how small.

Personally, I think long term solutions to the entitlement debacle require a sort of mushiness in the present. Just as only Nixon could go to China, you'll never see a conservative firebrand reform Social Security or the tax code. I'm counting on Bush to set the stage for many of these grand reversals. Let him soften the public up with his "compassionate conservatism" and shift opinion. Then, in '08, let's elect the guy that will kill the beasts of government for good.

Remember, the Democrats got us into most of our current mess through incremental legislation and judicial activism. It can't be undone overnight.
