See, the only problem is that I can't tell the difference between the D's and R's now. What difference does it make if we have D or Bush in there anyway? Iraq maybe but I'm thinking if any D was in Bush's shoes, they would probably have done the same thing he is doing. Tax cuts? Don't make me laugh. What tax cuts? The IRS is still in business and continues to terrorize U.S. citizens and will continue to be under either Bush or a D. So tell me the difference.

However small the differences are, and I agree they do converge too much on many issues, they exist. In order to move this nation rightward, it makes no sense to take a step to the Left, regardless of how small.

Personally, I think long term solutions to the entitlement debacle require a sort of mushiness in the present. Just as only Nixon could go to China, you'll never see a conservative firebrand reform Social Security or the tax code. I'm counting on Bush to set the stage for many of these grand reversals. Let him soften the public up with his "compassionate conservatism" and shift opinion. Then, in '08, let's elect the guy that will kill the beasts of government for good.

Remember, the Democrats got us into most of our current mess through incremental legislation and judicial activism. It can't be undone overnight.
