Rush Limbaugh deserves prosecution

What's next? Many captains of industry and managers of most mutual funds seem to be crooks. Now we learn that America's premier right wing talk show host is a junky. Rush Limbaugh is back from five weeks in detox doing business at the same old stand: spewing bile and defaming liberals and Democrats 15 hours a week. The interesting thing about this episode is that Rush sounds no different now than he did before detox, when he was high as a kite most of the time. Maybe drugs aren't so bad after all. It would be ironic indeed if Rush turns out to be the poster boy for legalizing drugs.
The difference between Rush and the average junky is Limbaugh could easily afford $100,000 a year for drugs. He didn't have to rob liquor and convenience stores to support his habit. So, maybe it is thinkable that admitted addicts buy their drugs at a pharmacy where they could be assured of reasonable prices and predictable quality and purity.
Rush's experience raises many questions: will he be tested periodically like professional athletes? How often? Will he tell us the results?
I think it is a felony to purchase prescription narcotics on the black market as Rush did. Jeb Bush's daughter Noelle was prosecuted in Florida for attempting to buy drugs much milder than Oxycontin with a forged prescription.
Rush poses as a role model for young conservatives. What sort of example has he set? Limbaugh richly deserves prosecution.

"If Rush broke the law, sure, he should receive the approproiate punishment -- no more or less than any other person in similar circumstances."
good morning, RP... be careful what you ask for!
"Just breaking the law will suffice...for" -RP
so now we must believe that RP NEVER breaks a law! IMHO, going 56 in a 55 zone is breaking the law.... but that's different 'cause everybody does it!

>> Does the fact that Rush was high on opiates while discoursing on the air affect his standing with dittoheads even a little? His alleged criminality aside, doesn't his opiate-addled brain mean anything to you? lol
You can project your anger, frustration and disappointment elsewhere, but the truth will out. <<
Will it now? Then let's deal with a little. Oxycotin and Vicodin do not necessarily induce a high, especially in people who have been taking it over a period of time. They are specifically tailored for time release. To obtain a drug induced high, you have to crush or otherwise alter the tablets to defeat the time release mechanism. Of course when you do that, you really defeat the pain management effect since the medication spends itself over to brief a time frame.

"going 56 in a 55 zone is breaking the law"But certainly this is not a valid law in your eyes, is it?
I mean, have I committed force or fraud on another? Have I harmed anyone? Don't tell me that you, too, join the ranks of the hypocrites who think others should be punished for breaking laws they themselves disagree with.

I'm supporting Rush you mental midget. He's a great benefit to conservatives everywhere. Also, I've never really heard him harp a lot on the Drug War in general and do not think he is a hypocrite like the mass media has been insinutating.
However, I pinged the Wod_list because Drug Warriors are quick to condem ANYONE messing with the illicit drug trade. Thanks for verifying the double-standard for us.

"Don't tell me that you, too, join the ranks of the hypocrites who think others should be punished for breaking laws they themselves disagree with."
of course not! I just get tired of reading posts from apologists, on a crusade for their Hero, without thinking through the ramifications, of their posts. You support the WOD, I am against the WOD. You support prosecution of criminals, and SO DO I! Where we seem to divide, is when the laws are unfairly prosecuted, or used as an unfair application of control, or misappropriation, of Individual Rights.
I like to read all of the threads, I can, on FR, not just the drug-related ones. "Conservatives" don't seem to be well-represented on this site, though there is much attention paid to "conservative" causes, and thought. Many posters, though, will immediately disagree, and claim they are the truly conservative.
But in reading volumes of posts, it seems many of those writing have never heard of Rights, or at least seem to think it is OK to look the other way, if it doesn't affect them (right now). Or, they pick and choose which Rights are inviolable, and want to go along when someone take rights away from others, because it fits their idea of good/bad!
I am sure I have been a hypocrite, many, many times. I have five children, ranging in age from my 32 yr old LEO son, down to my 14 yr old high school daughter. They see how I live, and enjoy the fruits of my labors. I endeavor to be true to them, and to God. We all see things with our own biases, and prejudices, so we all are part of the system.
Regarding Rush, i have enjoyed listening to his show since 1987. He has had me rolling in the floor (figuratively), with his "updates", etc. But, I see one post where the poster claims Rush has been a one-man show, for the conservative cause. I think he made it because there were so many folk wanting to hear what he said. If someone else had been in the right place, they may have been the hero.
The marketplace is all about supply and DEMAND. The supply was short, Rush became the supply (by way of a man with money, and an idea for a conservative talk show-[and if you have listened to him for any time, know who that man is]). He formulated an attractive product, with great entertaining values, and has ridden the wave. He has done well, and deserves it. That is an example of capitalism, at its best. I have Rush ties. I have a Rush coffe cup. I also think he is a pompous ass, at times, and get tired quickly these days, of listening to the same point, repeated, repeated, repeated, repeated... and I change the radio. But, I still like the ties, and drink coffee everyday (though not always with the same cup). Rush needs our prayers, but he also needs to be held to the same standards. Many of those represented herein, seem to think he should be exonerated, and his misdeeds overlooked, BEFORE THEY KNOW THE FACTS! They are the most vocal ones saying "wait"!
I have used this tag line, for a few days, just to poke fun!
I hope those supporting, and condoning Rush's use of drugs, (admittedly for recreational purposes -getting high) see the double standard that is being applied.
I am not a druggie, though I have played one in the past. I do not think that all drugs should be legalized, but see nothing in the Founding Documents, that give rise to our nanny state mentality, of today!
If hemp were made legal today, I would go to the store and buy some... I enjoyed the way it affected me, much more than my margaritas, or Cabernet! I never lost control, while smoking 'marijuana'.
Thanks for the reparte', and thanks for putting up with my long sentence structure.!

And some of these drugs appear to be every bit as addictive or more than drugs like meth, cocaine and so on.I've only personally known one opiate addict. He was addicted to morphine, and got off of that with methadone. Then he started back in on hydrocodone, and then oxycodone. And he got it all from the VA.

" I never lost control, while smoking 'marijuana'. "
Just to clarify something, before I forget (short term memory...LOL). I drink a couple of glasses of wine a day. I occasionally exchange them for a couple of Margaritas.
I have been "drunk" three times in my life. I hated the feeling! I don't get drunk any more, and rarely have more than my 1 or 2 a day!
I drink the red wines because I like them. I had a heart surgeon, friend, get me started, after he read enough studies to convince him of its 'therapeutic' value. I drink the margarita's because Jose Cuervo makes some good stuff!

"I'm supporting Rush you mental midget."You have a strange way of showing it.
Why did you ask if he should be "fried"? Why did you mock our (Pro-WOD) support?
There is a huge difference between being arrested/charged/convicted and what's printed in the National Enquirer. Yet you expect the "Drug Warriors" to treat them equally, and when they don't, you call us hypocrites?
You are indeed a strange one.
To: robertpaulsen
Utilizing Drug Warrior logic, Rush is as good as convicted. After all, he admitted being an addict, was in treatment, and broke the law.
Next time such logic is used on a Drug War thread, I'll be sure to ping you so you can re-iterate your position.

He broke what law?
To: robertpaulsen
Procurring a controled substance outside of government approved channels. It's a felony, in case you missed it from all those Drug War threads.
I don't approve of "government approved channels" and feel that Rush should have been able to get his pain killers over-the-counter.
Come on Bobby, it isn't like you don't know what I'm talking about. You've polluted more than your fair share of the WoD threads.

"I don't approve of "government approved channels" and feel that Rush should have been able to get his pain killers over-the-counter.If that's the case, then one wonders why you don't STFU about his supposed breaking the law.
But you go on and on, looking for hypocrisy in the pro-WOD ranks when there's none to be found. Look at your post -- you're the hypocrite!
Who says Rush was "procurring a controled substance outside of government approved channels". The National Enquirer? C'mon. You're wasting my time. Seriously.
Next time say, "The National Enquirer says Rush broke the law". Then I'll know to ignore it. Come back when you have something.

You don't listen to Rush at all do you? He admitted he was getting his drugs through other than licit means. Also, the cops are currently investigating him for exactly those allegations.
Next time say, "The National Enquirer says Rush broke the law". Then I'll know to ignore it. Come back when you have something.
Fair article. I don't have Rush 24/7 access or I'd find the speech from the Man himself.

I went to your CNN link. Thanks
again for wasting my time. There is nothing there about Rush admitting to breaking the law.
Come back when you have something.

If Rush deserves prosecution, Clinton deserves what all traitors get. Hands tied behind his head, a blindfold, and well pock-marked wall.
