Poll: President's approval on the rise after Thanksgiving

President Bush's standing with the public has improved since his surprise Thanksgiving trip to Iraq amid signs of a stronger economy and following congressional passage of a prescription drug benefit under Medicare.

Bush's job approval was at 61 percent in the National Annenberg Election Survey conducted the four days after the holiday, up from 56 percent during the four days before Thanksgiving. Disapproval of the president dropped from 41 percent to 36 percent, according to the poll released Tuesday.

No doubt. I see stories posted on Drudge and then hours later see it on Drudge or mentioned by Rush or Hannity.

It never ceases to amaze me how FR gets the news out first. The most impressive recent example is the Thanksgiving Day scoop by ChiefKujo about the Presidents' visit to Bagdad.

Yeah, this is a game they play. Bush lets the media pound on him for three or four months, waits until they start crowing about his low poll numbers, and then does something that demonstrates how ineffective they are.

If you're a Democrat, you have to put the trash can back on your head when you see this. They have eight or nine guys (I lost count) running around bad-mouthing everything Bush does, they got Hillary chowing down in Afghanistan, and they have all the Usual Suspects in the media throwing spears on their behalf. What good does it do 'em? None.

The good news is that this will probably convince Hillary that even though she could have the nomination if she wanted it, she doesn't want it. I think she was starting to waver; sometimes the Democrats get fooled by their own friends in the press into thinking that things are better for them than they are. This poll will remind her that Bush has infinite money, the economy is roaring back, and whoever walks into that buzzsaw will be lucky to match McGovern.

I think Hillary has figured out that she shouldn't chance it in 2004. Even with the Clinton money machine, she would be starting out way behind Dubya in financing and probably would never catch up. She's tough as nails and won't be fooled by some of those silly, spun polls the Dims are floating.

Her real worry is that whichever of the nine pins is nominated will be so bad that he will dig a huge hole for the Dim party, damage that might not be repairable in four years. Hence the Clark candidacy. But Clark is turning out to be another goober.

I'll tell you what, the speech on the carrier will not connect in the heads of most Americans with the landing in the flight suit. The dems just can't quite seem to connect the two and each time they try, they show Dubya in that testosterone soaked flight suit and nobody hears a thing the dems have to say after that.

Men, women, it doesn't matter, everyone reacted to him sauntering away from that plane with his helmet tucked under his arm.

Hey, DU is a lot of fun. I visit there often. The shear rage and hatred of America and President Bush are overwhelming, but still enjoyable for a time to time laugh.

The flame wars that break out between supporters of different candidates are like nothing I have ever seen before. The Deanies and Clarkies absolutely hate eachother. Maybe more than they hate Bush!
