When a anti-gun person might say to me "Too many people are being killed out there, so many people have died", my standard response is "Well, there are alot of bad people out there that just need killing!" That shuts them up fast, as they don't know what to say to that statement, as its soooo completely out of tune to their view of society.

They were designed to kill COYOTES and GROUNDHOGS...then our military bean-counting eggheads decided to have Colt and the Mattell Toy Company pop them out to arm reluctant draftees with (so they could stay high, and play with pleasant to fire ray-guns)...now they're a LOT improved....but all I'm allowed to own is an inaccurate Mini-14 to protect my children, livestock, dogs...from packs of Coyotes, the occasional large Bobcat, Cougar, Bear, multiple predators of the 2-legged kind, strung-out on mind-altering speed and alcohol.....because the AR is BLACK...looks cool...and has the dreaded, lethality-increasing Pistol Grip. Genius ! The "Law" is a beautiful thing...when the Lawyers run the goverment...isn't it.

Uzi may make some pistols, but the typical Uzi is a pistol caliber firearm with a shoulder stock that is fired like a rifle. Even with a short (<16") barrel, it (along with other submachine guns)may be considered as a long gun.

And new for 2004 is the M1A SOCOM 16! 7.62X51 (.308) semi-auto M14!!! 16" bbl and Springfield Armory proprietary muzzle brake. I am already saving for mine. Warned the wife and everything. I have a semi CAR-15 and a Ruger mini-14 with factory folding stock. This will blow them both from the surf. My ROBAR tuned M1A is set up for extreme long range with a range finding scope and match ammo, so this will total out the collection of every tool for a special task.....

The Ruger Mini-14 is a far superior weapon to the Mattel M-16.

It is obvious to anyone that knows a damn thing about the subject. Others guess wrong.

Well, heck. I wouldn't give you a dime for either one of them, then. Ruger makes nice boltguns and revolvers, but I've never had much use for any of their semi-auto rifles, with the exception of the 10/22.

Actually, I'll agree with you. I was disapointed with the accuracy of the Ruger as well. I don't know what the twist rate is for the Mini-14, but I know the M16A1 and M16A2's had different twist rates to better match different ammunition (M109 v. older M193 ???). I don't know which ammo I ran through the Mini-14 or whether it mattered.

Count on the Washington "Bleep" to get it wrong. No respectable military in the world uses "semi-automatic assault weapons", they use for real assault rifles, which are select fire, not semi auto.

Then again, the second amendment isn't about protecting duck hunters. Keeping and bearing select fire assault rifles, as used by the Army, is just the sort of thing intended to be protected by the Second Amendment.
