Dyson: Why did McGruder target Rice in "Boondocks" strips?
Washington Post
Michele Dyson says her pals and business associates are still talking about last month's "Boondocks" strips involving Condoleezza Rice. Why did Aaron McGruder decide to go after her? asks Dyson. "Was McGruder so unable to think of anything refined or polished to make his point about foreign policy that he just grabbed hold of the sexism grenade, pulled the pin and hoped for some casualties?"

Yeah. And no paper can cancel the strip because they'd be mau-mau'ed with idiots screaming RACIST!

Why does Michele Dyson talk about an angry, bitter hack like MacGruder months after the fact?

Why did Aaron McGruder decide to go after her? asks Dyson.
Because he is a liberal no class jerk.

My view is that he went insane after the war started. McGruder can occasionally be funny especially on cultural issues - but after the war he just got weird for the most part. Like the "find Condi a man" obsession over the past few weeks.

I pay to watch the aftermath of Mcgruder mouthing off to Condi face to face. She'd go old school Alabama girl on him.

I tend to agree with you on this one. I found one or two of his strips to be funny but he quickly devolved into hysterical shrillness.
Contrary to what some folks say around FR, I like the way he draws the comic, I just don't like the content. It must be sad for him to be so furious at the world. He is a classic revolutionary punk.

Why does Michele Dyson talk about an angry, bitter hack like MacGruder months after the fact? (from the article)
"In discussions about the comic strip, people would ask me whether I thought the series was humorous comment poking fun at serious events in government or whether I saw it as cheap shot using sexism as the weapon of attack.
The topic still is coming up, even now, almost a month later, so I decided to give it some "back of the envelope" figuring."

Well, I was being a bit rhetorical, actually.

The Boondocks" addresses a hip-hop culture of racial diversity. McGruder says he hopes that his comic strip improves the state of racial discourse. Why did Aaron McGruder decide to go after Condoleezza Rice? Personally, I think its just intellectual laziness on McGruder's part. He's jumping on the "bash conservatives" bandwagon, which is so fashionable these days, and Ms. Rice is a safe target for him.

McGruder going after the National Security Advisor is not nearly as bad as the Chairman of the NAACP (Julian Bond) agreeing with him. The NAACP is allegedly a non-partisan orgainization (EXTREMELY HEAVY SARCASM). Of course both McGruder and Bond are Useful Idiots of the Left.

For the same reason Dvorkin
wrote about Terry Gross' interview of Bill O'Reilly long after the fact. Because enough people disagreed with what the media outlet did, and complained about it, that it elicited -- even necessitated -- a response. That's a good practice.

This question took more thought. Many others have held the post of national security adviser before Rice, among them Henry Kissinger, Zbigniew Brzezinski and Sandy Berger. Each had his severe critics, and each made his share of mistakes. Yet no one ever dared to suggest that finding these men a new "squeeze" would make the world a safer place.
This merely exemplifies Leftist hypocrisy. Just as they couldn't see anything wrong with Bubba's frolicking with a woman half his age, cheating on his wife 100+ times, rape allegations... Just as they couldn't resist pointing out Linda Tripp's appearance...>
There is a double standard. The above things are only 'outrageous' if the other side does it. This also illustrates their cynicism as well. They don't really care about these things either. They are only trotted out as weapons against their political opponents.

Condi is my odds on favorite to be the Republican 2004 Presidental candidate. She needs to drift a little more conservative in her domestic views, but I think that she will.

You can't be funny and meanly partisan at the same time. MacGruder, who can be funny, has chosen to be mean instead.
the same thing happened to Art Buchwald, who was once a pretty funny guy but who became so consumed with hatred for Nixon, he lost it all.

Why did Aaron McGruder decide to go after her? Aaron McGruder thinks Condi is hot, but he's angry that she never bothered to acknowledge his invitations to go out with him.
