Well he should be prosecuted. I would be in jail right now.

BULL First offenders rarely if ever do jail time unless intent to sell can proven.Even then it's rare, I have personally seen kids with no money or representation caught with a bag of weed, box of baggies, and a scale given community service, probation and "drug diversion"What makes you think that you or Rush would deserve any harsher treatment?.I would imagine that since Rush was tipped off quite early by the Enquirer there was no evidence of anything and he easily cut a deal to avoid prosecution.

But that's precisely the opposite of what you are doing. You've just identified a speck in my eye, while ignoring the plank in yours.

I admit I am not perfect. You just attacked me, even after I did that.

We all have that plank in our eye.

All things to God are spiritual. It matters what He thinks and how He decides to heal. I want to do His will.

All I've done here is point out the primacy of Christ's atonement. That seems to make some people very angry. I wish it didn't. I'm not judging anybody. I'm saying Christ is the Master Healer.

I'm not angry or being rude. I'm just pointing out the primacy of Christ's atonement.

I believe that Rush has had a life changing experience. And because of it will be a better person. However, that life changing experience was forced on him by a ruthless attack from the left. While I am sure he is glad he went through the treatment ( and he is now recovering ), I do not believe that he will let the attack go un-answered. What we heard today, IMO, was the beginning of a different Rush. I heard an edge to his tone and demeanor that told me that the people who forced this on him had better look out.

I think that he will go on the attack big time and do as much as he can to “out” the people that have tried to bring him down. And, that he will become a much bigger problem to the left than he ever was before. Up until now he was an “entertainer”. Now he has been attacked by the big boys and he is on a mission. He has a huge personal fortune, which I am sure he is willing to use, a following of 20 million people, and the second largest bully pulpit in the world ( President Bush has the first ).

IMO, A sleeping giant has been awoken, and I hope that the left will soon be learning fear.

I'm saying Christ is the Master Healer.

Of course he is. Nobody said He wasn't. What I, and others here, are saying, in effect, is that healing by Christ and healing by medicine aren't mutually exclusive. Christ often uses others to work His will. Besides, if a physician helps or heals other people, it could be just as beneficial and spiritually healing to the physician as to the patient. For example, take the doctor who most likely oversaw Rush's treatment program. Rush might be his patient, but the doctor himself might be the patient of the Great Physician at the very same time. In other words, God uses the doctor to heal the patient, but he also might use the patient to heal the doctor.

What I did do was report the origin and root purpose of psychology, which was invented by Freud to replace pastor care.

As it turns out, I studied psychology a bit in college. Freud did not invent psychology. Psychology was around a looong time before Freud, as you can see by looking here. What he did was pervert it with his own secular (and sexual) views. Nor are Freud's views universally accepted in the psychiatric community.

So no, my family's feud is not with Freud--Freud would've blamed Josh's potty-training rather than an imbalanced brain chemestry. We do, apparently, have a disagreement with certain people in the Christian community who refuse to accept a medical basis behind many (not all) psychiatric problems that require a medical/theraputic approach to heal, just as a broken leg requires setting, immobilization, and sometimes surgery.

Now, lets bring this back to the subject of the thread. Does Rush have to conciously repent of the behavior that fed his addiction? Yes. On the other hand, remember that he got addicted because he was originally prescribed these pain killers following an unsuccessful surgery. There is a definite medical (physical) component to his problem that has to be dealt with, both in the pain of the unhealed injury and in the chemical addiction of the pain killers. Simply repenting will no more erase that problem than repenting of playing on the roof will erase the broken bone suffered in the fall.

What you want is a nice, neat world where only "bad" people ("bad" being defined as "worse than you") suffer from mental illnesses and addictions, and where if they would just repent, all would be well. The fact that simply repenting does not cure all ills (and I don't discount God's direct intervention, but God does not directly intervene in all cases; see 2 Cor. 12:7-9) is not evidence to you that your view is wrong, but that the person repenting simply isn't doing it hard or well enough. That's the same attitude as held by the Christian Science-types towards other physical ailments, as I explained in my previous post, and it's completely unBiblical.

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will life up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.
--Eccl. 4:10
Rush found this out for himself. If you listened to him on the radio, he talked about how he tried to stop on his own, but couldn't. Sometimes, we just plain need help, and sometimes we need specially trained help, whether because we need to fix our car, fix our leg, or fix our minds. If Paul had no problem keeping Luke on as his beloved physician, who are you to disparage doctors of a different (and clearly necessary) specialty--especially having displayed a monstrous ignorance about the origins and current trends in that specialty?

No doctor can heal like Christ can. That's not to devalue doctors, but we have come to rely on too many other things besides God and we will continue to pay the high price we are paying until we change.

As to the idea that nobody said Christ wasn't the Master Healer, all of psychiatry and psychology are founded on that assumption. You take a pill instead of repenting. You tell your therapist your problems so he can assuage your guilt. Of course they are saying that. That's my point. Christ has been thrown away in favor of pills that will never heal anybody.

I am not sure if this got posted so I will do so now.

It sounded to me from what Rush said today that he has never had back surgery

He said he has a herneated disk between the C5 and C6 vertebra. He said the only way they can get to those is through the esophogus and because of his career he didn't want to take the chance of it destroying his voice. Therefore he chose pain medication instead. He came to like the medication and became addicted to it.

Also I got the impression it was not Oxycontin like the NE tried to say.

A caller called in and said to Rush he had never addressed the fact that the medication caused him to go deaf. Rush said he never addressed it but his doctors did on "Good Morning America" They said the medication he was on did not have anything to do with his hearing loss.
