Rush considers his audience like family. When a family member has a burden, that person will talk about it if they feel secure. Personally I feel honored that Rush thinks that much of us to speak about it.

BTW, it shows the power of 12 steps to help everyone, not just christians. If anything, shows that we're more the same than different. I am also getting much therapy and inspiration from Rush today.

Well he should be prosecuted. I would be in jail right now. Rich drug addicts (like Rush) can go to fancy rehabs, not get fired for BREAKING the morals clause in his contract, and still be working, and people feel sorry for this guy? Puhleeze, he made the choice to take illegal drugs (please don't tell me that there were doctors prescribing 1000+ pills). It's laughable.

And please don't tell me he was taking 1000 pills either. He would be doing a dirtnap if so. You act like he did it for a high, which people addicted to painkiller rarely do. Funny how you take the word of a drug pusher before that of Rush.

Just because you are a conservative, doesn't mean you have to like Rush. I always thought he was entertaining...but that's about it.

Then why are you bothering to listen? There is always O'Reilly, or Clark Howard, or NPR. People that think he is merely an "entertainer" just don't get the subtlety of his commentary, even though he explains it to them periodically.

I think I recall her being an arobics instructor, too. Seems like she was also taking some college courses & was trying to reach Rush for some comments on a paper she was doing and so they met via e-mail. Or something like that. Has a couple of kids, also, if I remember right.

You apparently have not considered the possibility that many 12-Steppers use Christ as their "higher power." From your posts it's apparent you really don't know how 12-Step programs work.

Twelve-step programs let you choose your higher power. It's all about choice, which is why in my prior post I reference the "generic 'higher power'."

This is either deism (if the notion of the higher power is generic monotheistic) or polytheistic (if multiple goods are accepted) or pantheistic (if the notion of higher power degenerates into an impersonal force), but none of these concepts is compatible with Christianity, which has as its First Commandment, "You shall have no other gods before me."

Same here and the same goes for this thread. It's wonderful to read everyones stories of recovery.

Laz, don't even bother getting angry over the 12 step detractors. The more they post the more obvious it is that they don't know anything about 12 step programs. Congratulations on your recovery and may you have many happy, healthy years ahead of you!
