Allow me to clarify...a recess appointment is temporary.
Also, many Judges, like Miguel Estrada, do not want a temporary appointment, and decline the recess appointment.

The public sees things very simply. What the public needs to see is that the Democrats are AGAINST democracy. They are preventing a vote because they will LOSE. If you just keep all business from going forward...and when you have a chance to explain say...we won't go forward with any of the nation's business until we have a vote. That is basic democracy. The majority rules. Until then, nothing else will come up. First things first.
This is frankly one I would hand off to the President. Maybe even say he will veto any bill that comes to his desk until they vote on his nominees. It's time for Bush to play Andrew Jackson.

Cool your jets, my friend...the Dems aren't political geniuses...rememebr the Wellstone memorial fiasco...that cost them the Minnesota race, and control of the senate....the Dems are playing defense..their base is shrinking....
To: Keith
Just goes to prove that all the Democrats really care about is power. I think this went reasonably well, but then again we are fans of the GOP. Wonder what the fence-sitters thought. Anyone got input on the neutral's opinion at work?
To: syriacus
I think the Republicans should bring more names of nominees to the floor of the Senate to be voted upon.

Now Cornyn is saying that the ultimate judgement is by the voters. That frightens me. The voters have demonstrated that they do not comprehend our form of limited government, and are susceptible to being swayed by promises for largess from DEM candidates.

Remember more people than just "GOP fans" listen to the talk radio shows, which will give this exposure.
More people will know what is going on than knew before the debate. That much is a guarantee.

Maybe they aren't geniuses, but they have stopped the Pubs from getting noms to a vote. First time in 214 years. That's pretty damn ingenious, considering the Pubs--the majority party--don't have the cajones to stop them. It would be laughable if it weren't such a serious issue that will impact the future judicial history of the Nation.

I've always wondered why the women who advocate for abortion rights never address the fact that half of the babies killed are women.Maybe they are afraid of younger, prettier women.
By promoting the killing of thousands of pre-born females, they've lessened the female competition they will have to face.

Maybe so. But I know I don't want to hear them whine when I'm 70.
To: TomGuy
It doesn't take a genius to trash precedent and gather 41 votes.

The Dems are still sending a message that Conservative Women Need Not Apply and telling Black Conservative Women that they aren't black enoughYou are right, not only is it an insult, it shows how far the dims will go to prevent a Republican President from putting a qualified minority on the Supreme Court. They are scared to death of any inroads into their supposed ownership, of their minority base. Shows the dims for what they are, hypocrites of the highest order.

That dog won't hunt, it's a non justiciable issue. SCOTUS won't touch it. Actually, it IS a constitutional isssue; and I believe the SC will rule on it.
