I think it was more his "I'm so hurt" tone that got my attention. That wounded, sad, "of course we'll have a vote, why do you think we wouldn't?" tone.
Hmm. It's not one of the four, but it's progress.

He said that now that there is an absense of a quarem and they can't vote anyway.
To: Howlin
Not from what I see at the link I just posted. It looks like they are trying to set up some possitive sound bites for this evenings news.

Thanks you very much for your commentary. I am babysitting and can't really post much, but I have been reading when I get the time.
I did hear Daschle refer to the senators standing behind him as "heroes." On that note, I went to change a dirty diaper, which was more appealing.
To: SandyInSeattle
Daschle and Pryor are trying for another endrun around typical Senate procedures.
Gotta give the Dems an "A" for creativity.

never again will a judge nominated by any future Democrat President who has the faintest whiff of liberal stench get confirmed by the Senate unless the Democrats have 60 Senators. You can bet your house on that one. And I got that information straight from somebody ON the Judiciary Committee.
To: Howlin
er......somebody who WORKS on the Judiciary Committee.

absense of a quarem and they can't vote anyway.Ah ha! Call for a vote, when they can't vote. So they can say they're not obstructing judges.

I was interested in where the poster was getting the definitive statement that an appointee got paid....... I know. But I figured better to point you to more definitive sources. I don't feel like looking up the details and laying out cites to disprove the assertion that Judical recess appointees would be paid. After looking at 5 USC 5503, I can see the matter is too complex for this tired mind to unravel. ;-)

What are they trying to do?

Bring him on...NARAL and People for the American Way are OPPOSED to him. LOL!
J. Leon Holmes
Throughout his career, J. Leon Holmes has actively worked to undermine a woman's right to reproductive choice. His zealous advocacy for doing away with such a fundamental right, along with extreme statements he has made about the separation of church and state, gay rights, and gender equality, raises serious questions about his fitness for a lifetime appointment to the federal bench.

I heard this morning that he is considering suing the Senate to stop filibusters of judicial nominees....any truth in that rumor? I've been in and out so much I haven't followed.

The difference is: When the Dems get back in control and a Dem Pres tries to get a liberal judge, and the Pubs try a filibuster after the judge's name is out of the Judiciary, the Dems will force the Pubs into a 24-7 filibuster, not one of these pansy 2-hours-then-a-couple-of-week's-rest filibuters Frist has allowed.
