I hope he and Pat will get back together. She is a lovely lady and one of vast talent and ability. He didn't do so bad as the Gov, either.

Desoto county is so slow. Everyone waits on the courthouse steps and they announce results from the front porch. It takes forever. The Barbour people said if they got 20,000 votes in Desoto they would take the election.

Bellwhether=neutered Ram with a belle?Almost. A bellwether is a neutered ram with a bell around his neck. He, in theory at least, leads the flock. Therefore the word has come to mean "leading indicator" or "harbinger."

How many states will have Republican governors if Mississippi goes GOP tonight? Sorry for a dumb question. Cold meds are winning out. I'm near Mississippi, the river that is, in Minnesota. D*mn cold and D*MN cold. Go get 'em Haley. These governorships are important wins. Our guv, Tim Pawlenty, is a godsend for conservatives.I belive it was 26-23 (1 independent) before Cali, if they take over Mississippi, then it's 29-20 GOP!

To: Pubbie
Well Pubbie, it's a slow thread and people are talking about lots of things -- getting along with their relatives, cars, etc. And lots of other people were talking about Iraq besides me. So chill out.
To: vetvetdoug
Do you know Spell? He was my family's vet at one time.
(Yes, smart @$$e$--I was raised by wolves).
To: GeronL; NYC Republican
The problem is that, except in the case of Mayoral elections, the NYC GOP doesn't even TRY. I didn't hear or see a single ad from a GOP council candidate. Maybe one or two flyers (nobody reads those, and they are annoying), but that is it.
They are completely disorganized and uncoordinates, and the dems in NYC don't even have to TRY to win with 80% margins.
With a GOOD PR campaign, the NYC GOP could beat the dems over the head with the fact that 49 out of 53 council seats are Dem, and, e.g. our schools suck.
Stick a few old people (the main voters in these elections) in an ad saying that it is time to give the "other guys" a chance, and the GOP could win.

Good for you....there are decent folks everywhere I've found.
Southern is not a gimme for cultural conservatism amongst whites. Where I live in middle to upper middle class Southwest Nashville, I am a knuckledragger compared to most of my neighbors.
Blame it on Vandy.

Missouri is going to get a Republican governor next November. After 12 years of Democrat incompetence, voting stealing, tax hiking, and highway deterioration, maybe we can finally lay Mel Carnahan to rest.

Thanks for the OUTSTANDING link!
I tend to think you are right, but I note with suspicion that lot of those Delta counties are out too.

BTW, wardaddy, the reason I checked in on this thread in the first place is because I once lived in Jackson, Miss. My last child was born there.

Not a chance in the world! They give it to Musgrove in a second. GA gave it to Lester Maddox that way when Rep. was well ahead.
