[history]
Monday, November 3, 2003
A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.
The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?
The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.
Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.
DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.
Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Except for the lying Michael Jackson interview, I have been noticing since we went to orange that CBS has been the only worthy news on our standard networks. So for those without cable news, tune into CBS.

Israelis, Palestinians to Climb Mountain
By EDUARDO GALLARDO, Associated Press Writer
SANTIAGO, Chile - Eight Israelis and Palestinians left Thursday on an expedition to climb an unnamed, unconquered mountain in Antarctica, vowing to show they can work together under difficult, dangerous conditions.
The two yachts carrying the six men and two women of the "Breaking the Ice" expedition sailed from Puerto Williams, a Chilean navy base 2,050 miles south of Santiago.
"I think we are setting a very good example on how different people can live and cooperate together," expedition leader Heskel Nathanial said as the expedition sailed off in good weather.
"We are determined to support and help each other," Nathaniel, an Israeli working in Germany for a real estate company, told The Associated Press by telephone.
Minutes before their departure, he received phone calls from former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres (news - web sites) and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat (news - web sites), Nathaniel said. He said Arafat invited the group to visit him after their adventure.
The four Arabs and four Jews plan to climb a mountain near the Bruce Plateau in Antarctica after sailing for 600 miles in some of the world's most treacherous waters.
The yachts are expected to take four days to sail from Puerto Williams to Antarctica, via the Drake Passage. Then, they will sail for another five days along the Antarctic coast to the area selected for the climbing.
Two of the Palestinians on the expedition spent time in Israeli prisons one for attacking Israeli soldiers and another who was accused of terrorism. Two of the Israelis are former members of an elite commando unit.
The nonprofit group Extreme Peace Missions said it organized the 35-day expedition "out of a belief that overcoming physical obstacles by working together as a team toward shared goals can unite the Israelis and Palestinians."
The expedition is also sponsored by Israel's Peres Center for Peace and according to organizers has received support from Arafat, U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan (news - web sites), the Dalai Lama and former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.

I just came across another interesting article at:
Khalifah.com:
http://www.khilafah.com/home/category.php?DocumentID=8990&TagID=1 WMD and US Nuclear Policy
Muslims must not be deceived by the idea of WMD as a negative security policy.
Nuclear weapons are tools of foreign and military policy. When such technology is harnessed to the interest of the Khilafah state it will tremendously enhance the security of the Ummah and allow us to project the call to the Deen and facilitate our interests. The determination to deploy it must be consonant with its possession. The Messenger of Allah [sallallahu alaihi wa sallam] acquired all manner of military technology in order to determine the security of the new Islamic state in Madinah and to equip the army of jihad to further the call of Islam and spread its leadership. It was indispensable to have a strong military force to engage the enemies of Islam at that time. This requirement hasnt changed today nor should it.
"Make ready for them all you can of (armed) force and of horses tethered, to cast terror into the hearts of your enemy and the enemy of Allah and besides those whom you do not know but Allah knows." [TMQ Al-Anfaal: 60].

But I was just answering this question. Doug, at homesecurityus.com had computer problems.
While he (Doug) was at an in-studio interview on Channel 2-TV, one of his staff members was suppose to upload the translation to that Arabic Text. But the computer crashed. And Doug wasn't in the office to fix it for his staff.

OK, gang..who here thinks that the 2/1 - 2/4 nuke threat against NYC is real? And who thinks it is psyops or just wild 'net BB posts?
Also - I can't decipher homelandsecurity.com for the life of me. They put up different things that don't neccessarily seem related, and don't clearly indicate what threat is from which site or AQ statement, etc. So, you read pieces and parts of it, and come away with a "general" feeling that there are many threats, but have no way to get a good handle on their validity or what exactly was said - by whom, when and where.
I'm aware of MERI's interpretation of recent statements and Website postings, but what do you guys all think the "real" threat is at this point?

{{{shudder}}} Cop-killersLogical fallacy. People who shoot them at cops are cop-killers. The objects themselves have no such propensities. I prefer to think of them as 'tools for deprogramming krazy koranic kultists'.

"A) There's plenty of plausible speculation that AQ already has nukes, much on that topic has been linked and posted in this thread"
True. The most difinitive has been done by Yossef Bodansky, but those are 5 to 20 suitcase weapons of which if they managed to get 5 operational would not be enough to break the spine of the US.
"B) Surely AQ doesn't believe it could ever get successful access to Pakistan's strategic nukes. India, Israel, the US, and probably others would simply not let that happen under any conceivable circumstances."
Surely it does. The Pakistani military and intelligence service is rife with those whose version of Islam is quite radical.
The "why" of why these weapons are such a prized target: they are currently operational, very well maintained and are considerably larger than suitcases. The largest of which is about 5500kg by conservative estimates.
The chance of a US/Israeli/Indian raid to secure all weapons or their fissile material is considered to be extremely difficult to near impossible, depending on which expert on the subject one references.
"AQ is probably cowed by the number and intensity of foreign intelligence operatives there"
Don't you believe this nonsense for even one nanosecond. Cowed? They have dozens of operatives if not hundreds operating on a daily basis here in the USA (belly of the eagle) which does not hinder them one iota. When they are ready they will act. That is a virtual guarrantee.

i'll vote: its not real.
why didn't they detontate it last night during the times square event?
To: Sean Osborne Lomax
raid? if it comes to that, just take out the weapons facility with a nuke of our own, why "raid" it.
so far, AQ is an organization that has to either hijack the weapons they use (planes), or use car bombs or boat bombs, not that sophisticated. now we are supposed to believe they have a nuclear arsenal?
