ALCON-
Sorry it has been so long, very busy.
Just a little update, as far as the Company is concerned, we continue to push the edge. Our company was responsible for apprehending 3 high pay-off targets in the last few weeks, that has led to further disruption of the enemies ability to organize and command and control attacks against us. [My company] has been the main effort in the last three operations, a testament to their excellence and dedication to the job at hand. I know I am one of the luckiest commander's in theater.
We also continue to develop our own intel and act on it within the company ranks, we have been using a squad of Kurdish soldiers that we have trained to supplement our combat power, very effective along with 5 interpreters we have hired and trained
Platoon patrols nightly and daily, two Company Cordon and "Knock" operations this week. The enemy definitely has an aversion to conducting operations in our sector.
I am also planning the "Bulldog, X-Mas drive" event for the company and it requires a little help from you all. I have contacted most of the soldier's families back home, end-state, all families send a pre-wrapped gift to the 1SG or me via mail, so that on X-mas day, every soldier receives a gift from a loved one, to open in a ceremony around a tree (to be acquired) in our fire base.
Digital photos will be taken; I will probably even dress the 1SG or XO in a Santa Hat and beard. Issue is I need to get a Santa Hat and beard, X-mas tunes, X-mas lights etc. I may even need a little help with some of my more unfortunate soldiers back home; while their husbands are away, they are still trying to hold the home together. I was thinking maybe a donation gift or two. More to follow. I know this may be a lot to ask during these hard times, but anything would help.
Now for some super-selfish requests, please:
1. Pair of small binoculars/monocular, about the size of your hand, preferably with a MIL reticule inside (black body).
2. Ranch Dressing (plastic bottle type)
3. Horse Radish (Mayonnaise type, plastic bottle)
4. Mustard; Deli type (plastic bottle)
5. Bean Dip
6. Salsa
7. Corn Chips
8. Ramen Noodles (Soup) all flavors; lots
9. Nutter Butter Cookies
10. Oreo Cookies
Top wants (little harder to fill):
1. A nice hotel room at the Hotel Coronado (or Kauai) for 7 days, two round trip tickets from Baghdad international to San Diego (or Kauai), sometime out of the holiday season. Leave for two company commanders in a combat zone. Okay, maybe a little tough, would settle for an occasional radio check over a secure net.
2. Some Chicken/Pork Adobo, Sticky White Rice
Lumpia (with Banafran hot sauce)
Pancit.
3. Chinese Take Out; Number B
4. Combination Platter #3 from Desert Cactus (Milpitas) (extra chips and salsa, hey, throw in some cheese dip too)
5. Whopper Combo meal, King Size (onion rings, not fries)
6. Cold Pint of any good, American beer.
7. Margarita on the rocks, no salt. (Cuervo 1800 or any other top shelf)
8. Bottle of Sterling Vintage Reserve 1995, Chardonnay.
9. Some real good sleep.
10. Saddam Hussein in shackles at my front gate.
Respectfully,
[if interested in replying, send me a private note and I'll forward the address -- pabianice]

Tell this Trooper to give me his addy, and I will send as much as I can of those things. That, or look me up when he gets back to the World, and I will treat him to a day of indulgence.
Please thank our hero for me.

Is there ANY way we can get some beer to this guy's unit?
Of course, there's the sublime....

...then there's the ridiculous...

Bump!
To: All
I've been out of the country for awhile, but when did we start selling pint bottles of beer?
And from reading this article I get the strong impression that this e-mail was sent by a Navy Corpsman working with the Marines.
