. If not for Free Republic, folks like me would have zero knowledge of this event, not to mention many others.

Amen. I'm so grateful to all of you posting to a frantic sister on the East Coast. Worth so much more than cable. That's the truth.

Fox CH 9, if you have TV, it's awesome, Crestline burning down.

Unfortunately, only Fox News channel here. At least they're covering it part of the time. I wonder why they sent Horaldo Rivera there? I just can't take him seriously. Perhaps they're hoping that he gets fragged by the FF's. :)

It is like in the mountains of San Bernardino they thought Crestline and Lake Arrowhead were out of danger last night and now it is right there again.

The winds must be whipping around driving these fires. They said the winds are gusting heavily in the San Bernardino Mountains heading the fire direct to Big Bear.

Now we hear this about San Diego fires.

29,000 people are without power. 24,000 in the Mountain communities of San Bernardino Mountains. Warning -- do not burn candles for light -- no kidding!

This is getting beyond comprehension to absorb.

It would be interesting to see what happened to IncidentControl.com I bet he got a nasty note from some "officials" from some agency.... now there is no information at all...

the after action report on this fire is going to be an interesting read...I can think of a couple strange things....I know its a huge incident, but the plans for such things have been in place for years.

I expect the Missy at CDF will be kicked out on her ass first.

NM Fire from KOB-TV4:

Last Update: 10/29/2003 5:42:16 PM
By: Todd Dukart
Video

The Ski Run fire that has scorched 250 acres in the Lincoln
National Forest north of Ruidoso is about 10% contained.

Fire information officer Beth Wilson said 225 people are
fighting the fire with four helicopters, eight fire engines,
three water tenders, and a bulldozer. They’re cleaning up
spot fires, working to protect structures, and are clearing a
line around the blaze.

Nearly 40 summer homes and cabins in the area were
evacuated soon after the fire started Monday near New
Mexico 532.

The fire is believed to be human-caused. It’s been burning
mostly conifer trees and ponderosa pine trees in steep
terrain.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I am so sick of seeing Davis blathering on TV and he doesn't even know what is happening!!!!!

I agree--and he hasn't known what has been happening for over 5 years. God gave us Ted Costas to start the Recall. God tried to get signatures early enuf, but I believe this will be the final legacy for Davis. Strangly appropriate- his own career is up in smoke, also, I hope. I truly hope he NEVER holds any taxpayer funded office again. Nor does he hold any position that influences politics. I wouldn't hire him to walk my dog nor to pick up poop from my horses.

As soon as Nancy Pillosi comes on TV and gives the word that the fires are all GW's fault, the networks will cover it non-stop.

Well compared to Cuyamaca I guess Julian is saved. Sh$t. There are people with loved ones there, who have lost everything who are being given false hope due to crappy reporting.

There are literally going to be so many "homeless" people created by this mess that it is going to be impacting people here for years. Rebuild, move, live with other family members. The scars are going to be deep from this.

Crestline is west of Lake Arrowhead a few miles, the whole area is on fire, the wind is whippin it into a firestorm.

And that is the area that has an abundance of nearly dead beetle-infested trees. Mother nature is taking care of the beetle problem, but in a most vicious way.

I hope everybody is out of that area.

I thought last night when I heard reporters saying that along with several fire spokesman they might be speaking too soon with an on-shore flow ready to come in but then figured what did I know!

They should know better than say anything with the winds shifting and now really gusting again according to KFI.
