Amen to donating to Salvation Army (rather than Red X) -- the SA is not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I believe I'll do that. Altho our local Salvation Army ran afoul of the law when the head man kept donated vehicles and sold them for his own profit. I know there's always a bad apple in every bunch.
Private citizens have been going to the evacuation centers, taking and preparing food for the mountain evacuees there. The Health Dept was headed here this morning......never have heard for what but everyone hoped it wasn't to shut down the operations. Maria Shriver was in San Bernardino yesterday bringing new clothes for the evacuees there. Many people are following her example.

No, actually they are not the same eyes. Look at the heavy upper eyelids on the man in the photos and how deep-set his eyes are. Then look at the differences in the sketch. I think we all need to be very cautious about jumping to conclusions on very scant evidence. Remember the lessons of the beltway snipers, when everyone was looking for a white man.

Yes, I understand that. But when you watch what is happening, its the Red Cross volunteers here that are working very diligently on the lines here and in the burned neigborhoods. Of course they are not the higher-ups in the organization. Hey, even the guys that ring you up and ask you to donate to the Police Association have to send you a sticker for your car. They have to make some sort of a showing.
But mark my words, when this is over and it is time for people to get assistance from the Red Cross, there will again be a Red Cross scandal. After as many times as they have been caught, they are not going to magically change.

Re: Julian
Yeah, the story you sent was based on the Sheriff's office announcement which was attributed to the Forest Service. Only problem was, nobody at Forest Service knew who had given the order. So, then it was returned to voluntary, then became mandatory again this afternoon.
The only small ray of sunshine is that once this thing gets east of Julian it'll run into the old burn from the Vulcan fire last year. That runs north / south for about 15 miles just up the road a bit. Should help things a bit, as should having the Otay fire contained.
Coming home this afternoon, I was passed by a task force coming into town from Santa Cruz and Watsonville, some 350 miles or so north. As they crossed the intersection, everybody gave 'em a horn serenade and thumbs up.

I know that area having hunted the Julian area a good amount and that area is just a big can of fire fuel of dry pine and brush.

Well, we've been saying for the last couple days that Chuck Henry is grandstanding and showing poor judgment, I sure hope he learns from his truck burning up and stays safe.

Julian's land mark Framer's Market (the apple pie place) belongs to close family friends and both the business and their three homes will likely be destroyed.

Julian is an absolute treasure....Yes. Last time I saw my best friend alive, we visited Julian -- I have the fondest memories of that place. It is truly lovely and, as you said, a real treasure. I could just cry.
Holy Spirit, please pray for California with groanings too deep for words.

That's a good idea. Can't possibly hurt to get some items together. I hope it doesn't come to that, and I really don't think it will. Thanks for checking in.

Swear some of these media types have mush for brains. Fire Chief says go and you leave the area immediately!
