I heard on Rush yesterday from a caller who said that President Bush has been trying for a year to get a bill through which would basically thin the forest out and get rid of all the dead wood. Has anyone else heard this.
This bill has been blocked by certain politicians but I can't remember their names.

I remember that burn - that was the one that waltzed down to the back of northern Monrovia, wasn't it? I seem to remember something about some church or church school being majorly affected, but it's been so long that I can't remember it exactly...

If it is 1/2 mile from Lake Arrowhead it is way past the Rim of the World Drive and has crossed HWY 18 big time. Thanks for the info.

I can't believe that this could tear through Julian and that whole area. They can't seem to stop it. Just like the last two days. This whole thing is so out of control!!
I can't believe I'm sitting here (can't go anywhere) while my friends homes up the street are gone.
The sky outside is so spooky. The house is so dark.
I'm trying to keep upbeat and I've let everyone I know that I'm available to help if they need it.
This is so frustrating and sad.

Do you have any news on Stevenson Ranch? I'm up in Fresno and barely getting any news coverage.

I want to donate to them but I'm not sure its a good idea.I'm trying to get my former good opinion of them back. Our last major fire here, I went in and gave them a big donation and specified "for victims of the Willow fire". Nope...those victims went begging and the Red Cross said all the money went into their general kitty.
This area is taking in the evacuees from the mountains and the broadcasters keep saying "do not bring clothes or food to the Red Cross. They will only accept money." Uh huh.
To: baseballmom
Yeah, and now the whole east county here is burning.
UGH!!
To: ladyesk
I want to donate to them (Red Cross) but I'm not sure its a good idea. Do not donate to the Red Cross. If you want to help, you can gather food, clothing and give it to people yourself. If you want to donate to a charity, give to the Salvation Army.
The Red Cross will use this event to line their pockets. Why do you think they ask only for money, not material donations? In Australia after the Bali bombing, it was learned that very, very little of the money donated to the Red Cross actually went to the victims. People there called and demanded their money back.
The Red Cross is the Ambulence chasers of the disaster relief agencies. They spell disaster, Di$a$ter.
Do NOT donate to the Red Cross.

The Salvation Army is ALWAYS a better place to donate then Red Cross, especially after what they did after 911.
