Thank you, I just got a report on KUSI. The USFS was aggressive with their defense and it looks like the fire is staying away from the town but it is moving slowly up towards Cuyamaca (middle peak).

Keep your clothes for Red Cross. CBS was asking for blood and money.
That's pretty typical of all non-profits... your blood and your money are requested.

Having the Terri deal on Larry King tonight is beyond my comprehension. Who cares -- it is not breaking news like the fires! I should have said upper east coast area -- people in the south get the same treatment as flyover country and now the west coast.

Redlands is in Southern California. That is east of San Bernardino.

His group helps our trail races out in the back country (keeps track of runners). That's the public service stuff that keeps the guys in practice for emergencies. My wife was working an ARES liason with San Diego Sheriff's Department before she applied at work as a dispatcher. Her capable handling of traffic at the air show was a plus in the decision to hire her. She laments not being able to run the emergency services van this evening. She is a real whirlwind at passing messages between Sheriff's radio, amateur radio and the amateur packet net. Alas, she is at a POST training class in preparation to be the dispatcher training officer at her current police department here in Idaho.

ESPN radio was reporting at lunchtime that entry to the game was free, but they were going to request donations at the gate that would go to a wildfire victims' relief fund.
If true, kudo's to the NFL, SD Chargers, Miami Dolphins, and AZ Cardinals organizations.

Apparently, I don't understand.
Of course fire burns down a mountainside but, much more slowly.
All sides of the hills are burned here.

Hi Nicmarlo,
Descanso is just west of Pine Valley and near Rancho Cuyamaca State park. I found out that the community has been spared due to the aggressive defense of the USFS.

Fire has increased in intensity in the Chatsworth area -- getting very close to the homes -- the reporter thinks the fire may be in the homes. Largest flames he has seen all day. Still a few home owners who refuse to leave. Talking about foaming down the houses with fire retardent.

I still can't find out if my parent's old home burned down or not. My brother and his family live in it now but can't reach them. They're between Sterling and Arden and Lynwood and Marshall. Anyone know anything about that area?
