The sorry SOB probably wants to make sure nothing is done to help her organs recover. Then they can claim that she suffered and died because of the efforts made to stop her. He is one hateful individual.

[>>>>You have obviously never seen a person in a vegetative state. They have no brain EKG function whatsoever,] My husband, a psychiatrist, who is standing right next to me says you are wrong.
...especially since an EKG monitors *heart* activity, not brain activity. An EEG on the other hand...
To: irish_lad
For the love of......
EKG refers to cardiac rhythm. As in: electrocardiogram. EEG refers to brainwave activity. As in: electroencephalogram.
Terri Schiavo has both. A heartbeat and brain activity. Not as little brain activity as her "HINO" would like, however.

Why aren't the state police there? I thought that Bush named himself as the interim guardian. This state law must be as worthless as the Americans With Disabilities Act. This is horrible, as it has been for so many years, just horrible.
To: Calpernia
Since there is that patient privacy act, they can just say, "yeah, she has her IV and Food Tube". Doesn't legally matter if she is at that hospice.
Oh good grief. Does that mean Michael Schiavo's lastest strategy is to bounce Terri from place to place like a pingpong ball hoping she'll die from being moved?

I guess my question is where has the law been broken? Item B must be followed and if it is then I don't see were the law has been broken. Just musing
NOW THEREFORE, I, JEB BUSH, Governor of the State of Florida, by the powers vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the State of Florida, specifically House Bill 35-E, do hereby promulgate the following Executive Order, effective immediately: Section 1
- Effective immediately, continued withholding of nutrition and hydration from Theresa Schiavo is hereby stayed.
- Effective immediately, all medical facilities and personnel providing medical care for Theresa Schiavo, and all those acting in concert or participation with them, are hereby directed to immediately provide nutrition and hydration to Theresa Schiavo by means of a gastronomy tube, or by any other method determined appropriate in the reasonable judgment of a licensed physician.
- While this order is effective, no person shall interfere with the stay entered pursuant to this order.
- This order shall be binding on all persons having notice of its provisions.
- This order shall be effective until such time as the Governor revokes it.
- The Florida Department of Law Enforcement shall serve a copy of this Executive Order upon the medical facility currently providing care for Theresa Schiavo.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and have caused the Great Seal of the State of Florida to be affixed this 21st day of October, 2003. |

So very comforting to allow those we love to die without pain and suffering, isnt it? Comforting for them (I guess) and for those whose lives are inconvenienced by approaching death. Americans as a whole avoid the whole subject as it make them uncomfortable.
Plain and simple: Hospice can no longer claim the higher moral ground that it eases the sick and dying (we are all dying). When so many chapters are hooked into insurance providers and euthanisiacs have infiltrated their centers and their boards, it is time for an overhaul or better yet, a complete investigation of the inner workings.

Well, if the husband took off with her, and she dies...he's in it deep. In the end, he knows that if Terri ever recovers, he is in even deeper. IMO the abduction plan was always in the works, to be invoked as necessary. God forbid, but he might just get away with this after all.

Perhaps Morton Plant Hospital needs a visit from JCAHO.
To: ChemistCat
OK, two questions:
1) Who gets the movie rights?
and more importantly, why do some of the people on FR want this woman to assume room temp? I am very disturbed by this.

"She needs agressive treatment to recover." I am having a hard time taking the emotion of this any more. I can't imagine what Terri's poor parents are going through!

are you kidding? It's 9:12 eastern, is this real? can somone say "April fool?"
She couldn't just leave the hospital, though -- it wouldn't work that way. I wonder if she's just in a safe place, which is what we've discussed the need for.
We love you, Terri -- He will not leave you alone, and neither will we.

Trolls, people who don't understand...it doesn't take all kinds but we have all kinds.
My mom is one of the ones who doesn't understand. She's convinced that Terri is in a coma and wants to die and Michael was right to move on...13 years, etc.. :-( I'm so happy to see her again but I can tell we'd better not discuss this.
