Yep, freedom to people like him is nothing more than convenience for his preferences. It is a sad state that we live in when this attitude is acceptable.

Can you imagine trying to smoke outside a bar or tavern in January, February and March? With the sub zero temperatures? It's an overkill.
Every decade or so, we go into these crusades where we choose a public villain.
Currently, smoking is the evil du jour.
At least, small neighborhood bars should be excepted, as well as bars that install ventilation systems designed to capture tobacco smoke.
America is the land of innovation and invention, no need for these draconian measures.

"Simply stated, the human body isn't at its optimal condition when addicted to the nicotine in smoke, and calling people who expect us nicotine addicts to take our unpleasant addiction out of their faces Nazis is wrong."/i/p Pointing out the similarities between the anti-smoker cartel of today and the Nazi anti-smokers is valid. I realize the truth hurts, but you'll just have to deal with it.
Sadly, you have to deal with a bunch of angry addicts who see their perceived "right" to inflict misery and suffering on others in places open to the public being taken away from them and who are very grumpy about it. Their natural reaction is to hurl insults, because in their world it's all about them - and only them - and they think it's somehow okay for them to be able to pollute the air and injure the health of others anywhere they want to go.
"hurl insults," indeed. I suppose you think it's perfectly okay to call people who CHOOSE to use a LEGAL product "addicts," to claim we "injure the health of others," to imply or actually claim we're child abusers or murderers? We don't consider that okay, so if you "hurl insults," expect to get them back. In spades. When you learn how to speak respectfully to your betters, you'll get respect in return.
Although allegedely conservative, they never learned the basic conservative adage: all of your rights end at another person's nose.
Typical closet leftie--you twist a perfectly good adage to your own ends. A TRUE conservative realizes it depends on WHERE that other person's nose is. But if you believe it as you stated it, fine. You step into a ring with Mike Tyson and tell HIM where his rights end.
Idiot.

No one is MAKING you walk into any establishment, especially mine.
It should be the choice of the property owner. Since at least 80% of my customers smoke (my wife and I do not), I would choose smoking rather than lose 25% of my business.... Which is exactly what has happened since 07/24/03.
My clothes don't stink anymore, but my business sure does!

"Excuse me? hehe! Your on my list bub. "Uh Oh! I'm on She Lion's list....
Well, there's probably at least a 50% chance you will roll that list up and smoke it before you act on it, so I'm not too worried. I just hope that "bub" moniker doesn't stick.
PS Post #4 is what I was refering to as "unnecessary Bureacratic stuff".

Then the founders of our states are socialists.Examples, please?

There is virtually no debate over the negative health effects caused by smoking - or even of secondhand smoke - in the scientific community.Ah, minnie, comments like this prove that the foundation of your beliefs lies in your hatred of smokers, not in the facts.

IGNORANCE ALERT!!!
BTW, the asthmatics I know are smart enough to stay away from things that trigger their attacks, and many of them smoke.

And Mussolini made the trains run on time. Yeah, so by association, anyone who thinks that trains should run on time is automatically a fascist. Let's call them Schedule Nazis.

I've never seen a smoker try to enact legislation to force an owner to allow smokingAnd I have never seen a smoker give two craps about the owner getting compensated by the state for the taking of his property.

Don't you realize that just because you have experiences that support the private property owner's rights, you yourself are a private property owner and therefore your examples are invalid. A gnatzie is the only one with relevent experiences!
Sorry to hear about your business. Have you tried to make it a private club? Have you had problems with smokers not abiding by the law and forcing you to enforce the ban? If so, how have you handled it?
I would enjoy hearing about any of your experiences regarding these bans.

I, personally, don't smoke around children in confined areas. Does this mean I would actually vote for a law that enters someone's private property and disallows legal acts? NO NO NO.It will either occur by legislation or by the courts. My guess is the courts will kick it off.

Well said.
Because of the well-planned, heavily-funded, PR-savvy War on Smokers, it has become very easy for even those who consider themselves conservatives to overlook the underlying issues and vote away their neighbor's rights. God forbid I should ever be so blind.
