Freepers, we need your help NOW! This is coming to you from Terri's family, live from the vigil site.
Jeb Bush has called an emergency special session and they will take it up 8:05am eastern time.IF the measure passes, Terri's execution will be stayed and feeding/hydration will resume immediately. She will be SAVED if this bill passes.
We need you ALL to call the Florida Legislative Branch - House and Senate. They can be found at
http://www.floridasoundoff.com/browse/pol_contact.htm
All contact numbers and emails can be found at this url.
Terri is still alive and she's starting to really feel the effects of dehydration. Her skin is starting to crack, and she is in pain - but TERRI IS FIGHTING TO LIVE. This is NOT over. By the Grace of God, she is still alive. If Terri is willing to fight, we have an obligation to fight along side her. No matter where you are tonight, or where you are registered to vote, we need you to call these Florida Legislators NOW.

Who is Johnny Bird? There is no BIRD on the Florida Legislature. Terri's Bill is not up for vote today.

That's Johnnie BYRD. There does seem to be some confusion about whether or not this bill will be offered...that I can't specifically help you with.
To: krunkygirl
Bird or Byrd, there's no one by that name on the Florida pages. The bill will NOT be offered. They've adjourned.

http://www.myfloridahouse.com/ He is Speaker of the House. I am confused now. Was this supposed to be introduced to the Reps or the Senators or what? If it was to the Reps, then we've been emailing the wrong people...though I guess the Senators would have to vote on it too to pass, right? I'm not that up on how this stuff works.

Florida is a big vacation state, a retirement state. Tell them you will never take a Florida vacation [again] or won't retire to Florida, or something like that. You won't buy Florida produce or something. Whatever would apply to you. All that stuff is relevant to them.

If it's of any help in talking to Florida lawmakers, callers might mention this comparison:
A team of top doctors in Dallas, Texas just amazed the world by separating those conjoined Egyptian twins. People in the Middle East watched with intense interest, and they learned that American generosity and goodwill to all still inspires us. The many doctors and medical people who took part in this historic operation volunteered their time and skills, in the highest traditions of American values and know-how.
In contrast, Florida has just announced to the world that it is a moral cesspool, by condemining a helpless, innocent woman to a cruel death -- all in the name of "law." This sends the opposite message to anyone of moral sensibility.
Which is it going to be, the Florida way or the Dallas way? What are we going to tell the world about ourselves? That we are the kind of people who bend over backwards to help the helpless, as they did in Dallas? Or that we are such barbarians that we would legally murder a young woman, just because she is hurt or inconvenient, as they are doing in Florida?

His name IS there, making me more confused that you. I thought it was Republicans introducing the bill - Senate President Jim King opposed it and refused to allow it up.
Check some other threads.
