Racist cartoonist, Aaron McGruder, 'The Boondocks', trashes Condi Rice (vanity)

Aaron McGruder is a creep. He's a black cartoonist whose strip, The Boondocks, is fairly popular.
On his radio show, Larry Elder has played excerpts from a speech McGruder made in front of a group of college students. In this speech, he ripped Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice for being mass murderers.
Below are links to some panels from an ongoing arc where he takes potshots at Condi Rice (I refuse to post the actual images here):

Oh,I am sure I would have many disagreements with the gentleman.I am not arguing that point.
I am sure I would not share many of Robert Redford's political viewpoints but that doesn't make the fact that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is one brilliant movie!I tend to separate the artist's personal axes he wants to grind from his art.
In Mac Gruder's case,I contend he bashes both white conservatives AND black militant poseurs like Jackson and Sharpton.
I don't have a problem with balance.

I heard the show too. He is a player hater. A hater is someone who is jealous of someone's success and prosperity, usually because they've achieved nothing in life themselves. Aside from this guy drinking a vat of haterade, he's a bitter meanspirited person.
What a chode. I hate people who are meaningless trying to make themselves into something important.

As a former cartoonist myself, I can tell you that you have correctly identified why Aaron McGruder is a lousy cartoonist. It is not because he is a liberal. It is because:
a) His cartoons are not funny.
b) His cartoons are poorly drawn--static figures, easy to do.
(Side note: I really miss the two best--i.e., best combination of being funny and well drawn--cartoon strips of the past 25 years, namely, The Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes. I wish somebody would talk those two guys out of retirement. At the same time, I know how hard it is to keep a cartoon strip up to the standards one has set. The well can run dry.)

Fact is, there are several excellent black cartoonists out there, but McGruder is not one of them. "Curtis" "Jump Start" and "Herb and Jamal" are some of the best written and drawn strips out there. But because they aren't radical cultural critics of the Spike Lee school, they don't get the attention Boring McBooger gets.
Incidentaly, 'toon historians have confirmed that George "Krazy Kat" Herrmann, possibly the greatest cartoonist of all time, had African-American ancestry.

Yes, Jump Start and Curtis are two strips I read every time I pick up the funnies page. They are funny and well done.

"
My main complaint about the strip is that the Dallas News has chosen to run it separately at the bottom of the advice column page where Cathy used to run."
Seems to me that being the replacement for/compared to "Cathy" is punishment enough and well deserved since both play to a very specific, very troubled, audience.
At least "Boondocks" characters look like people, although I'm never sure which on is the girl.

I love The Far Side too but you are sniffing glue if you think Gary Larsen can draw. The artwork looks like a 4 year old did it. You also left out the greatest strip of all time, Bloom County.

I love The Far Side too but you are sniffing glue if you think Gary Larsen can draw. The style is intentional, and it works. Very funny. It adds to the humor of the ideas.

No Cajun, you don't understand.
Aaron F*%#wad McGruder got his BS out of college, and now he's 26.
Condi Rice got her PhD by the time she was 26!
Sadly, there are some black men who live in fear of powerful, assertive black women. McGruder is one of those people. That's what's behind the hate: McGruder always knows that he will be a Second Rater, peddling Second Rate ideas in a manga style that couldn't get him an inbetweener's job in any halfway decent Tokyo anime studio.
What a putz. Of course, the only redeeming factor is that his drawing is superior to Trudeau's, who's originality died back in the Nixon era.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

Sucks doesn't even begin to go there. If a white cartoonist tried this S33t week after week, it would probably land him in jail for hate crimes. Of course, when a black racist does it, we must view it as politically correct.
