Torre made a number of questionable moves, too.

Agreed. But for some reason, he always comes out smelling like a rose. Casey Stengel was like that too.

Reference my post from a Month ago: Posted by L`enn to johnny7 On News/Activism ^ 09/13/2003 12:58 PM EDT #9 of 18 ^

It seems like the Yankees always dangle it right in front of the Red Sox only to snatch it away at the last moment. 1949, 1978 , 1999, this year. I wish I had a dollar for every time in the last five years alone I have said the day after a big game or big series "It's gotta suck to be a Red Sox fan". The Cubs and Chisox have gone longer without a title, but the Red Sox have been teased in a more tortuous way.

This post can more than likely be dragged out of mothball for the next hundred years. Baseball karma...it's real.

Well, the Cubs were "better" than the Marlins too. That's why they play the games.

Torie is displeased as to the two teams going into the World Series. Pity one cannot always get one's way.

He and Giambi made a fool of me gladly. I've been killing them all October.

I know what you mean. I had Boone, Giambi, and Mussina on my bleep list before tonight, and all of them came through!

Kind of like the 78 Red Sox were better than the Yankees and for that matter the 76 Sox were too. The 96 Orioles were better than the Yanks that year too. Too bad they play the games, when that happens the "better" teams always seem to lose.

I was thinking of the Chambliss homer too. That broke an awful string for the Yankees, 12 years away from the World Series, I remember hearing about it from a guy with a transistor radio (I was travelling on a school bus that night and missing the game was killing us) like it was yesterday.

This was just like it. That series was tight as anything, too, Brett was killing us.

LOL, ESPN just noted that the total time taken to play all the games between the Yankees and Red Sox this year was 83 hours. The trade of Babe Ruth was 83 years ago.

The difference isn't the quantity of money, it's how the money is spent. The Rangers blew their wad on the single most overrated player in professional sports and have stunk on ice ever since, no matter how much money a team spends if it's spent wrong the team loses look to the "other Rangers" New Yorks blue shirted hockey team with a payroll that blows away the NFL salary cap (for half as many players) and 5 years out of the playoffs.

you moron, the Yankees payroll is 75mill more than the Rangers....you think the Rangers couldnt build a world series team with 75million worth of pitching.... 100mill is not equal to 180mill freakin NY idiots. f NY.... hopefully they are cheap when it comes to the team plane

You know, you really are a class act. Because the Yankees won the ALCS, you want them to die in a plane crash? It's fans like you that give yahoos a bad name.
