I have never seen a team hit into so many DPs during a seris like the Red Sox. I wonder if they broke the record. Are you counting the strikeout/throwout double plays? Because I'm pretty sure that kind alone accounts for three Red Sox DPs in the series.

No insurance runs this inning
7 Boston
6 New York
Mid 8th

Yanks got a break there - he didn't touch the ball.

Goin' to the bottom of the 8th. Still 7 - 6 Red Sox
To: CounterCounterCulture
They called it a foul tip. The ball wasn't within a foot of Ortiz's bat (on replay). It was a makeup call for missing the third strike earlier.

It just seems like every other inning they bounce into one

Yanks got a break there - he didn't touch the ball. I'm not sure the replay that Fox showed was that pitch. If it was, holy cow -- missed the ball by half a foot, no way a fould/catch.

Heheheh. Some folks do that "straight." I don't laugh at the mistakes, but I don't feel bad for 'em either. I must admit, I laughed during the Cubs' 8th inning meltdown last night. But it was more of a nervous/hysterical laugh. I'm a casual Cubs fan, so I can do that. If the Yankees had imploded like that I'd just be somber with the occasional verbal epithet.

Beats me. Here's the replay...nowhere close to a foul tip.

Replay confirms what we already knew.
