Don't panic yet. What I'm hearing is that Kline is strong in the precincts yet to come in.
None of us do...
Exactly. And none of the big moderates who won tonight gave a hoot that the conservatives were in tough races. Some may have even worked against them behind the scenes. Plus, Graves and Stovall certainly were of no help.
Have been channel surfing. Dims are not happy but they're still spinning it trying to make themselves look good. Did see Carville with the trash can on his head. Little tommy is not happy which makes me very happy right now.
Carnahan, Jean | DEM | 860,589 | 48.6% | |
Talent, Jim | REP | 882,384 | 49.9% |
It apparently comes back to roost in the lap of state party liason Steve Cloud. He needs to be ousted at the Kansas Day GOP meeting. Cates is wondering out loud how we get this movement going.
We need to start thinking about how we deal with this, practically, at a state party level. Thoughts?
Apparently it was the Graves-Stovall wing of the party that bred all of the defectors who endorsed Sebelius.
We picked up slightly. Control was never in question.
I heard that he was persuaded by emails etc.. that reminded him he wouldn't be Gov. without the support of conservatives--and they(we) had to overlook a LOT!
Coincidentally, I emailed him about 4 days before his endorsement and said exactly that. Thank me! (hahaha) Not that it did any good.
I'm listening to Becka (he is an idiot, but if I don't turn on the radio I forget to turn on Rush at 11) and a reasonably intelligent man is arguing that the moderate wing of the Kansas Republican party keeps screwing conservatives and electing Democrats. Becka, of course, argues that conservatives can't get elected because they scowl and just "look mean". Idiot.
The governor's seat was Stovall's to take. She raised bags money and then she dropped out, very late and after a very coy game of tease with the press, to find ~love~. Shallenburger stepped up to the plate, won the primary and took on Sebelius. Tim had no money and Katherine had a pot load. The RINO Graves finally came out, and with a look on his face like he had just seen Eleanor Roosevelt naked, said he would endorse Tim Shallenburger. Then he disappeared. We never heard BOO! from the love-sick Carla. They dropped Tim like a dirty hanky. These people aren't RINOs. They are RAWEDs. Republicans Actively Working to Elect Democrats. /rant fsf
Did your e-mail have a naked picture of Eleanor Roosevelt attachment? just curious.....:o) fsf
I have heard that several times actually. I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. You listen to Cates too? Do you ever call in?
I'm so glad Doug Mays won. He's so much better than my rep...a Dem. Mays' opponent ran a very nasty campaign.
My emotional feelings toward moderate Republicans is pretty negative right now. Rest in hell, to be specific. I understand what you're saying though.
I know a lot of conservatives in the 3rd District voted for Dawn Bly because they were so furious at how the moderates treated the conservatives in the primary. I heard from several who did that.
You certainly know how to paint a mental picture! LOLThese people aren't RINOs. They are RAWEDs. Republicans Actively Working to Elect Democrats.
I love that! I'll be sure to use it. Fits perfectly.
While the conservative leaders in the state embraced Taff immediately, the conservative voters remembered how Kline was treated 2 years ago, and, as you said, they were smarting from the Shallenburger, Kline snub.
We should probably swallow our pride and work to repair this coalition.
You're right, but it will be tough being nice to these people who did this to us. You notice how big Jenkins/Praeger won, but the conservatives either lost of squeaked by. Our local political radio talk show host said the first place to fix the KS Republican Party would be to get rid of Steve Cloud. Sounds good to me.
