As conservatives, we need to decide if we want to effect some payback on these creeps for their defection, or if we want to work to build a stronger coalition. Emotionally, I want the former. Intellectually, I know we should do the later. Republicans in this state are just too hostile to each other. I blame the whiny baby mods, but I know conservatives often act like gasoline on the fire too. Taff, a moderate, couldn't pull off a win either. This should not be happening in this state!

My emotional feelings toward moderate Republicans is pretty negative right now. Rest in hell, to be specific. I understand what you're saying though.

I know a lot of conservatives in the 3rd District voted for Dawn Bly because they were so furious at how the moderates treated the conservatives in the primary. I heard from several who did that.

I agree that payback won't work and isn't productive, but we won't be able to build a coalition without some changes at the top. Those who are state leaders who supported the defection HAVE to go or no coalition will ever be possible.

I liked the tone Doug Mays adopted this morning on Cates' show. I think we need to rally behind calm and reasonable voices like Mays. But, I also don't think it hurts if Cates acts as our local Limbaugh and starts up a hue and cry to dump some of these "leaders" who are short on party loyalty.
