On Friday, Nov. 21, Greene announced she will resign from her post as representative for Georgia's 14th congressional district in 2026.
When asked by journalist Rachel Scott if Trump had "any heads up" about Greene's decision to resign, Trump replied, "Nah, it doesn't matter, you know but I think it's great. I think she should be happy."
In Greene's statement, the congresswoman said that her resignation will be effective as of January 5, 2026. She also criticized the political gridlock and partisanship that she says have impeded her ability to achieve her legislative goals.
Greene went on to criticize her fellow Republicans for their participation in the longest government shutdown in American history, and touted her conservative voting record on issues like gun rights and abortion, border security, and "COVID tyrannical insanity."
The congresswoman added that she did not want to be asked to defend Trump, who announced exactly one week ago that he would withdraw his endorsement of Greene.
"I have too much self respect and dignity, love my family way too much, and do not want my sweet district to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for, only to fight and win my election while Republicans will likely lose the midterms," Greene said.
Her resignation announcement comes amid months of public tension between Greene and Trump, fueled by the congresswoman's increasingly critical rhetoric. On Nov. 10, Greene criticized his current focus on foreign policy amid the president’s White House meeting with Ahmad al-Sharaa, the president of Syria’s interim government.

No. Trump said she isn’t in any danger which I don’t agree with.
She can start drawing her congressional pension - in 11 years when she turns 62.
Based on the calculations found at:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congressional_pension#
she’ll get about $8,800 per year.
- Dr. Anthony Fauci - Rachel Maddow (MSNBC host) - John Bolton (ex-Trump NSA) - Bill Kristol (conservative critic) to name a few. Basically an honor guard of anti-Trump folk.
Not really a question of how much money she needs, in my opinion. Potentially, she spent nearly 5 years earning her pension, most of the time in the good graces of conservatives on this site. I would not give up that pension. Would you? I’m not making this assessment as a fan of MTG. I’m merely pointing out that, whatever my disagreements with her, I don’t fault her for sticking around for 6 or 7 weeks to reap a pension that took nearly all of five years to earn.
Call it simple pragmatism. Now, as to the $20 mill, if any of that crowd reaped it illegally, I see your point. And, I suspect, even if it were legal, it wasn’t ethical wealth.
Great point. SO sick of MTG and her drama.
Yup.
Maybe she found out that at least two had lied before and that they were all paid half a mil...and this was just a ploy to get more.
Let's see what the future brings.
In the meantime...she's a "lame dame".
If her development/construction company employs illegals, their assets should be seized and the owner(s) prosecuted.
She got her “feelings” hurt...says a lot about the “quality” of “representatives” and “leaders” we have these days.
Thanks for a simple agreement. Too often on this site, a reaction is usually volatile and directed at a single element of a reply rather than the full context and meaning. FreeRepublic is my go-to site to see breaking headlines bc so many people are watching the world and eager to post first. OTOH, The quality of discussion and debate is often instantaneous, full-on outrage. Best site I’ve found for truly measured and educational debate is the Conservative Treehouse.
I’m not questioning her right to the pension, sorry should have made that clear. It’s the other increase in wealth, I mean that’s approaching hillary clinton levels of investment expertise
What the hell does football have to do with it?
Please be advised I have other fish to fry.
O-H. Brandon Aiyuk like MTG was big news. A Friday afternoon ‘dumping’ announcement keeps it out of the headlines.
There are plenty in congress.
