Donald Trump Candidly Reacts to Marjorie Taylor Greene's Decision to Leave Congress
People ^ | Nov 22, 2025 | Charna Flam

On Friday, Nov. 21, Greene announced she will resign from her post as representative for Georgia's 14th congressional district in 2026.

When asked by journalist Rachel Scott if Trump had "any heads up" about Greene's decision to resign, Trump replied, "Nah, it doesn't matter, you know but I think it's great. I think she should be happy."

In Greene's statement, the congresswoman said that her resignation will be effective as of January 5, 2026. She also criticized the political gridlock and partisanship that she says have impeded her ability to achieve her legislative goals.

Greene went on to criticize her fellow Republicans for their participation in the longest government shutdown in American history, and touted her conservative voting record on issues like gun rights and abortion, border security, and "COVID tyrannical insanity."

The congresswoman added that she did not want to be asked to defend Trump, who announced exactly one week ago that he would withdraw his endorsement of Greene.

"I have too much self respect and dignity, love my family way too much, and do not want my sweet district to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for, only to fight and win my election while Republicans will likely lose the midterms," Greene said.

Her resignation announcement comes amid months of public tension between Greene and Trump, fueled by the congresswoman's increasingly critical rhetoric. On Nov. 10, Greene criticized his current focus on foreign policy amid the president’s White House meeting with Ahmad al-Sharaa, the president of Syria’s interim government.

Oh, brother. Why didn't she just say "All you cretins get out of my way so I can achieve my goals." She sounds clueless about how DC works.

MTG turned out to be another grifter looking out only for herself. She made millions while in office and will be setup to make millions on the speaking tour. I hope she libels Trump so he can sue her into the poor house.

Why would she blame Republicans for the shutdown? This is her MAIN problem. She is a thorn in the side of our party for no reason other than to stir up trouble. She and Massie are perfect for each other.

Thought her term was a rollercoaster ride with both moments when I appreciated her support of PDJT and cringes when she went off on her own wild tangents. She has the decency to quit if she doesn’t like the ride, and she hasn’t taken the path (so far) of J. McCain, Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, and others of that ilk. I don’t think it’s a crime to hang for a couple months to get a pension. Heck, I spent 6 extra month is the Army to meet time-in-grade requirements for a higher pension.

Although. I suspect that a more lucrative career awaits anybody who turns on Trump. Witness the funeral guests at Dick Cheney’s service.

DC doesn’t work. That’s the problem. Everyone in Congress is dirty. Both republicans a democrats. How many house and senate members have been there for over 20 years and plan on staying till they die. America needs term limits and age limits on our representatives.

I knew she is eccentric, but I never thought that she would become a bubble head begging for cooperation with assassination-loving Democrats. Sickening. 🤮

I’d prefer her in office than any Democrat in the country. To some degree, I’ll miss her. I wouldn’t expect to agree with everything she says. Should she be in lockstep with Trump? Ideally no. People are supposed to think for themselves.

On the other hand, it’s often party vs. party and the Democrats are probably more monolithic in their votes than are the Republicans.

I wish her well in the future. Maybe she will run for another office. Who’s governor? Maybe, there is some post in the administration where she sees eye to eye with President Trump.

Nail, meet hammer.
Term & age limits, NOW!
The problem is, the people we’re trying to rein in ... are holding the reins.
The founders would be appalled at congress 2025.

her net worth already went from $700K in 2021 to $20 million today, how much more money does she need?

She always claimed to represent her constituency.

and the main sign she was a good representative is the radical left hated her with a passion equal to maybe no one…except Trump himself.

She fought hard. She was standing outside that courtroom in New York City, sure fought hard for Trump in Congress. She was loyal. Buy when Trump started screwing up she pointed out his letting in H1B, 600k Chinamen, and most of all, his betrayal on Epstein. He called her a traitor while he beds down with every low life he can find in the Oval Office, Netanyahu, Ellison, ISIS Al-Sharaa, Prince Bin Sawzall, the CEO of Pfizer, Mamdani, Zuckerberg, etc. Those are all great buddies….. but MTG? She’s a traitor.

She’s making the smart move… Trump has shown loyalty in a one way street. Go out on a high note and preserve yourself.

From X:

Dennis W. Futch:

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s resignation didn’t surprise me at all. I’ve been asked all day why she quit, so here’s the straight truth from the inside.

MTG has been drifting away from Trump and the America First agenda for a long time. That’s not speculation, that’s what’s actually been happening. She changed her tune, chased her own spotlight, and the base saw it.

The real turning point was simple:
Trump didn’t want her running for governor, and he was never going to support her.
That truth hit her harder than anything the Democrats ever threw at her.

And here’s my belief based on what I’ve seen behind the scenes:
She will run for Senate or governor purely to spite Trump.

Not to serve Georgia. Not to push the movement forward.

To take a shot at Trump because he told her “no.”

Her resignation gives her time to pivot, raise money, and position herself for a revenge run. That’s exactly how DC plays the game ego first, mission last.

But let me be clear.
This movement isn’t about personalities. It isn’t about who gets offended or who wants another spotlight.

It’s about America First, the forgotten men and women, the rural counties that built this country, securing the border, lowering taxes, protecting our rights, and restoring sanity to government.

MTG walked away from that mission.
Trump didn’t.
That’s the difference.

Whatever she does next — Senate, governor, whatever stunt she’s planning  it won’t change the fact that the MAGA movement is bigger than her and will outlast her.
