Ron DeSantis’s bid for the Republican presidential nomination was already faltering even before he formally entered the fray on Wednesday in a much-touted launch on Twitter Spaces. As The New York Times noted, DeSantis “has struggled in recent polling, receiving an average across polls of around 20 percent among Republicans, falling far short of former President Donald J. Trump’s roughly 50 percent. The gap between the two men has grown steadily over the past few months, as Mr. Trump’s share has increased and Mr. DeSantis has lost ground.”
Unfortunately for DeSantis, his decision to take up Elon Musk’s suggestion of a Twitter launch meant the event was marred by numerous technical glitches and has already entered the annals of political lore as a stupendous bungle. Politico characterized it as a “botched rollout” that could undermine “the very argument he is making to Republican primary voters—that he is a competent alternative to the chaotic presidency of former President Donald Trump.” My colleague Joan Walsh described it as a “fiasco.” The New York Times called it a “meltdown.”
Far from helping him against Trump, DeSantis’s tech mishap seems to have energized the former president. Trump’s campaign quickly fired off gleefully derisive videos mocking the Twitter Spaces disaster, including one showing an imploding rocket labeled “Ron! 2024.” The exclamation mark was an allusion to Jeb Bush’s failed campaign of 2016 (marketed as “Jeb!”), while the rocket was a cruel invocation of a recent Musk space vehicle debacle. Another nasty Trump video had DeSantis sharing Twitter Spaces with a host of villains ranging from Dick Cheney to Adolf Hitler to the devil.

“interest payments on national debt”
Bideninflation is slashing the real burden of the national debt.
Thanks to Bideninflation, $310,000 in 2023 doesn’t buy as much as $200,000 would in 2017.
A short burst of federal overspending can trigger prolonged inflation.
Biden’s puppeteers have the art of shafting older people with savings in banks down pat.
Trump’s health? Sounds curiously foreboding. DeSantis is not part of MAGA. Kari Lake is though.
Trump has sound policy down pat.
Other Republicans can be just about as good based on the same logic Trump used to formulate his policies.
There’s no copyright on logic.
DeSantis is a cold character, but this coldness allows DeSantis to apply logic 100% of the time and to not be thrown off course by Democratic cockroachs crawling over the pages of our nation’s mass media.
I hope for 218 copycats in the House and 51 in the Senate come November 2024.
Ron DeSantis does not have much of a conservative history.
What was he before he barely beat the homosexual Andrew Gillum in 2018? A race that required Donald Trump’s endorsement to squeak out a win. Now DeSantis thinks he’s a world beater.
I do not trust all those leftwing globohomo billionaires that are bankrolling his campaign. Those cretins (like Rupert Murderoch) will stab him in the back during the general election.

Fox or Faux
One can never be sure.
I am not familiar with the Nation at all. And you are most likely correct in that it is a liberal rag. But some points made in the article are correct. The Twitter rollout was bad from all news sources.
He may be working for DeSantis to make Trump look awful.😆
Of course it is.. why would anyone settle for a copy when the original is available?!?
No one.. ever.
No it wasn't. He overloaded the servers due to incredibly high demand.
He also apparently set the record for the amount of money donated on the first day of a campaign announcement, and it was primarily small donors.
According to reports, DeSantis brought in more on that one day that Trump did for the first 6 weeks of his announcement.
So get real. If that was Trump overloading Twitter, and breaking fundraising records, you'd be declaring the general election over already.
His only chance with the grassroots would be to run to the right of President Trump. It wouldn’t win him 2024, but it would set him up to run in 2028.
At some point I imagine DeSantis’s advisors told him to act like Trump. So he did - and kept doing so until they told him it was time to start distancing himself from Trump.
That’s the problem with these career politicians and their consultants. It’s all about positioning - looking like you’re one thing at a certain point in time to take advantage of the current circumstances, then changing positions when it’s deemed necessary. Their goal is to be everything to all people at some point and hope that the voters are too stupid to notice them flip flopping.
He is.
“What was he before he barely beat the homosexual Andrew Gillum in 2018?”
He was a member of the Freedom Caucus who never felt it necessary to challenge Boehner or Ryan’s party leadership. THAT’s the guy who we’re told is going to take on the deep state.
RD’s connection to the Klaus Schwab cabal is undeniable and it’s sinking his presidential campaign and any chance of beating Trump. The only chance DeSantis has is if President Trump gets jailed, killed or drops out.
It’s so undeniable yet no one can provide a speck of evidence of such a connection. On the contrary there are multiple instances of Desantis speaking out against the WEF and the globalist cabal. But I guess if you can’t lie, you don’t have any argument to make against Desantis other than the fact that he is challenging Trump.
The tech problems weren’t the issue with me. I’ve put on enough events that I know these things happen. Of course, my tech wasn’t being handled by a multi-billionaire, but ...
To me, it seemed that what he said he would do as president are things that Trump already did. (That PINO Joe EO’ed out of existence in a heartbeat.) And his style was stilted, monotonous and droning — obviously being read.
He’s probably a decent guy, but not someone who’ll knock the socks off of voters with his magical charisma.
Ron is backed by the Bushes, please clap.
